chapter six: don't you remember?

When Steve ran into my room at six in the morning I was not ready for what he was about to say.

My heart stopped in that moment and my brain started racing.

They found him,
They found Bucky.

Steve then began a rushed explanation of how they were fighting on the bridge and then his mask came off.

I couldn't even speak, the love of my life whom was presumed to be dead was found again.

I had to do something I couldn't stand around and wait for the Avengers to do something.

Without a second thought or even speaking a word to Steve, I rushed into my closet got changed and began packing a small bag.

"Y/N what're you doing?", Steve asks with confusion clearly plastered on his face.

I let out a sigh and glance at his tall form leaning on the closet door, "I gotta go Steve, I can't wait. I need to find him", I say with desperation laced in my voice.

Steve places a hand on my shoulder than speaks, "No! That's too dangerous Y/N, you don't get it. Bucky isn't Bucky anymore. Hydra, they've brainwashed him into-into a machine! If you go to him he will kill you.", he says.

Finishing packing my bag I stand up and remove his hand from my shoulder, "If he kills me so be it, I'm not afraid of death Steve. I have waited, god knows, almost what feels like an eternity to see his face again! Do you know what it's like to wake up one day and be told the love of your life is dead?! I was heartbroken! I was so broken I-I wanted to end it all. Now I know that's pathetic but you don't get it.", I say and put my head down and pause then speak again, "The only person who gets it is Bucky. I have to leave now. I'm sorry Steve.", and with that I walk out of my room and head for the stairs not trusting Steve to get Jarvis to shut the elevator off.

As I walk out of the Avengers Tower I take one last look at my home, and with that I head out. First order of business was to get out of the city and near the Hydra base where the files say Bucky is.

I don't know what they did to you Bucky, but I swear on my life I'll never leave you again once I find you.

*

It's been five days since I left the tower, soon figuring out I needed to dispose of all electronic devices I had to make sure Steve or Tony wouldn't try to change my mind.

Maybe Steve would be right, maybe I'll end up dead at the end of this. But for Bucky, everything is worth it.

As I finally near the Hydra base I walk slowly through the forest it was strategically located in trying to avoid making sound or triggering any cameras.

Stepping over sticks and twigs while also observing my surroundings was harder than I was used too, normally I have the Avengers behind my back to help me with this stuff.

But now I'm alone, dangerously alone.

After what feels like forever I can finally see the back entrance. This entrance was less guarded and according to the files it was less guarded between one-two in the afternoon, due too lunch.
