Questions in my Quarters

Percy

After a long, overkill of food, I dutifully followed the rest of my house to their sleeping quarters. I could tell that the blonde from earlier liked to brag about his "powerful" position, threatening the youngest not to mess up and embarrass their house.

When the blonde glanced at me, his eyes narrowed, but he didn't say anything. Which is good, because I wasn't in the mood. That hat broke down the many walls I built in my mind. I made a note to set it on fire later.

Where we walked was not where I expected, below the castle, inside its dungeons. We approached a stone wall and came to a halt. The blonde turned to look at everyone carefully, scrutinizing his audience.

"Listen up now because I'm only saying it once!" The blonde hollered,"Tonight, the passcode is pure-blood. The password changes every fortnight, and is posted on the notice board. You forget to look, find somewhere else to sleep for the night."

I frowned, lots of pressure on the children. They glanced at each other nervously, but never the less, straightened their posture. We waited as the entrance to the common rooms opened. The first years went in first, then the blonde in I. The rest of our house had already entered awhile ago.

The common room was a dungeon-like room with greenish lamps and chairs. The dungeon extended partway under the lake, giving the light in the room a green tinge. The common room had a lot of low backed black and dark green button-tufted, leather sofas; skulls; and dark wood cupboards.

It was decorated with tapestries featuring the adventures of, what I guessed were famous Medieval Slytherins. It had quite a grand atmosphere, but also quite a cold one. It was wide enough so I didn't think I'd feel claustrophobic.

To the end of the room were two sets of staircases. The girls were walking up the ones on the right so I assumed I was not to enter there, and the one on the left was where loads of boys went.

I started to follow them when I was stopped by the blonde from earlier and his two goons, as well as a couple more. A girl stood next to the blonde, lifting her nose up in the air as if she were smelling something nasty.

"I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." The blonde announced,"Now that you're in this house, I expect to receive some respect, and not to see you scurrying about with your father's godson."

I lifted an eyebrow, wow, was he serious? I glanced at his company and saw no amusement in their eyes. Their expressions were completely serious. How funny, they thought I would listen to them. When I didn't say anything, they continued.

"These two are Crabbe and Goyle," Draco introduced,"This is Pansy, and that's Blaise."

"I'm his girlfriend," Pansy input.

Gee, thanks for that set of useless information. Only last names for the body guards? Makes sense, they didn't look like they knew much more. The other one, Blaise seemed oddly silent, his eyes were observing me and by the way his face scrunched up, he didn't like what he saw.

"What do you know about Slytherin?" Blaise questioned,"If your parent is a Black, you should know quite a lot."

I crossed my arms and said nothing. I didn't need to, my parents were none of their business, and I knew magic, not history. Only my mothers, but she was a Ravenclaw.

"Well, you must know something!" Malfoy sneered,"Otherwise you wouldn't be put here."

"I know that the element of this house is water." I answered, my mother emphasized on that because of my father.

"Is that all," Blaise sneered,"You're already an embarrassment to this house."

I shrugged, and pushed past them to the sleeping quarters. I was tired, and didn't need a history lesson right now. I could already tell that my house wasn't going to be in my favor, but from the looks of the other houses, I caught their attention.

Great, thank you talking hat. It seems that my qualification for the other houses slipped my roommates minds, and they just focused on the Slytherin part. The hat said I was determined, clever, and very mindful of my actions, how they would cause others reactions.

I got that, after all, if I did one wrong thing in a monster situation, then a life would be lost. Demigods were quick learners like that. I made my way around the dormitory, searching for my stuff.

I found it in the corner next to a window that showed the open waters. I had a feeling Dumbledore had something to do with that and I was grateful. I had one trunk with loads of protective spells around it, and a mortal lock on it, the one that spun the numbers.

My cat sat in the center of my bed, under the covered, purring soundly. I smiled, and pet her softly. Opening my trunk, I dug around the organized stuff to find my night clothes. Luckily my expansion charm worked, so literally, anything I needed was in it

I even had a little room in it, but that's where all my godly stuff was, ambrosia, nectar, armor, memories, all that stuff. Then my clothes were on the top, along with my school stuff.

Books and what not, and the wand, don't forget the wand. I admit, it was beautiful, but I'd never use it. By getting one, I settled my Uncle's stomach, but if I used it, my mother would turn over in her grave.

Crawling in next to my cat, I watched the waves, mermaids, and fish swim by as I drifted to sleep. Sally's purring in my ear, and her heat comforted me. For the first time, in a long time, I felt safe.

Like the sound of my cats purring was my mother's heart beat, and her warmth was my mother cuddling me. I felt like a kid again when I had a nightmare, or I was sick. I felt content, and that's what I fell asleep to.
