So in this chapter, we introduce our main character-Sean. This chapter is mostly an introduction to the story. Nothing truely exciting has happened, yet.

The Week Before

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

Sean groaned and rolled over to shut off his alarm. He opens one groggy eye to look at the time. 7:20am. Shit! Sean jumps out of bed, late as always. He rushes to get dressed and runs down the stairs with a toothbrush in his mouth.

"Ma!! I'm late again! Can you take me to school?!" He half yells, half spits.

"Ugh! Sean this is the fourth day in a row! Check your alarm time before you go to bed!" her voice ringing from upstairs.

"I did! I clearly set it for 6:30!" he yelled back. Sean yanked down his Teen Punk sweatshirt. While walking towards the kitchen sink, Sean heard a snicker behind the opened fridge door. Cooper. Sean's little brother closed the fridge after pulling out a pudding cup. The twelve year-old was still smiling when he climbed onto one of the kitchen high-chairs.

"Cooper, how many times have I told you to not fuck with my stuff?" Sean was close to beating his brother when his mother came downstairs.

"Sean Evan Nickles! How dare you use that kind of language towards your brother! Do I need to add another two weeks to your punishment?"

Sean looked at his brother, pissed. Cooper grinned and stuck his tongue out at Sean.

"Fine," he let go of his brother, "but if it happens again, ma won't be here to save you."

"Whatever." Said Cooper.

Sean rolled his eyes, spit out the left over toothpaste that was still in his mouth, and followed his mother out to the car.

When Sean got to the high school, he sighed. Another day of this shit. Glad this is my last year. He got out of the car, waved goodbye to his mother, and walked towards the double entrance. He passed by several other students, bumping into them in the process. Sean grumbled and huffed. He definitely was not in a good mood. Sean walked up to his group of friends and gave a slight head-nod. He looked around and noticed that some people were missing.

"Yo, where are Vinny and Lex? They were supposed to skip with me today." he asked one of the group members.

"They dipped a while back, they waited for you man but you never showed." Audrey, the red-headed group member, said.

"Dammit! My idiot kid brother messed with my alarm again." Sean pulled out his phone. Just when he was about to call them, his phone flashed a low battery warning.

"You can't be fucking serious." he said, "Well that's just fucking perfect!" He stuffed his phone back into his pocket.

"Dude," Ian, one of the calmer group members, replied, "don't sweat it. Here," he handed Sean his phone, "just use mine."

Sean looked at Ian and wondered, How in the hell is he so calm all the time? He's definitely been hitting the ganja. I'll have to get his guy's number later.

"Thanks man, it hasn't been the best day."

Ian shrugged. His eyes looked half-shut and Sean could've sworn they looked a little blood-shot.

The phone rang twice before Vinny answered. "YO! WASSUP IAN??" Sean jumped at the volume of Vinny's voice.

"Dude!! It's Sean!!"

"WHAT ABOUT SEAN??"

Sean looked agitated. He practically screamed into the phone, "NO I MEANT IT'S ME SEAN. WHERE ARE YOU GUYS MAN??"

"YO, WASSUP BROTHA?? MAN, WE'RE ALREADY HALF-WAY DOWNTOWN. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO MEET US THIS MORNING."

Sean continued having a screaming fit with Vinny while the rest of the group stood idle. Carrying on with their previous conversations, the group started walking towards their classes. Ian stood behind so he could get his phone back. With a large huff, Sean hung up and handed the phone to Ian.

"So? What's happenin?" Ian asked.

"No fucking idea." Sean grumbled. He pressed his palm to his forehead and sighed. Great, now I think I'm getting a headache. Fuck today.

Ian looked at Sean and chuckled. "Dude," he patted Sean's shoulder, "you stress way too much. Chill for a bit. It's all good." Ian gave Sean one of his reassuring smiles and started to walk off, leaving Sean to brew. Sean closed his eyes, tilted his head back, and let out a long agitated groan. He was debating on whether or not to even go to class. He decided on just going. While slowly walking to class, Sean was thinking about what he was going to do after school. Sleep would be the prefered answer, but Sean knew that everyone would want to meet up at The Box and smoke.

The Box was this old shed at the back of Sean's backyard. At first it was just for storage, but after a while all the good smoke spots became hot to the police. Sean, Vinny, Lex, Ian, Bullet, and Lana, being that they were all part of the group, got together at Sean's one night and turned the old shed into The Box. Inside includes a stereo, christmas lights, a lava lamp, and an old couch that could fit at least six people. It was the perfect smoke spot.

Sean sighed and walked towards class. Considering he missed half of the day, he couldn't wait to see what else was going to happen.
