I sat up by the bar watching my brother play poker, i nodded my head to the door where a black man was standing. It went quiet and he entered walking right up to Powder Dan and ordered a drink. Getting a nod from Faraday i flicked my wrist and froze powder Dan's friends, looking back towards the man who nodded discreetly at me before whispering in Dan's ear. I watched as he shot Dan and everyone but me and Faraday left to get the sheriff.
"Money for blood is a peculiar thing." Faraday spoke up.
"Thanks for taking care of his friends for me." The man said. "Sam Chisholm is the name, you ever need anything let me know." He said before leaving.
"Follow a few minutes after me." Faraday said taking his winnings and a bottle before leaving. I shook my head but grab a couple other bottles of whiskey for him and followed him out in time to see dickie and earl get him. I froze their guns, nodding to Faraday before heading for the stables. Upon seeing a poor man trying to bridle Wild Jack i stopped behind the stable master.
"May i make a bet with you for that horse mister?" I asked calmly, as he turned and jumped down nodding. "Whoever can bridle that horse first gets to keep him. Sound fair enough to you?" I asked calmly.
"Fair enough lady, if it's all the same to you, my man will go first." He said, i smiled and nodded my agreement. We watched as his man tried for nearly 3 minutes before giving in and handing me the bridle.
"Hey, easy now." I spoke calmly stepping into the corral with him, he snorted and pawed at the ground putting on a show. "Hey, easy now, you're alright." I spoke softly slowly creeping my way towards his side. Sure enough he reared up when i got close enough, i jumped up swinging onto his back and forcing the bit into his mouth and set correctly. He reared and bucked for a few before settling down and snorting.
"Lass, you may have that horse and the gear it came with. That's the bravest thing I've seen anyone do." The stable master spoke up as i rode Jack out of the pen.
"Why thank you. I believe i'll need my horse as well." I said sweetly, slipping off of Jack and putting a steadying hand on his neck. The man nodded and the stable hand ran inside to put the bridle on my horse and grab Jack's tack before returning and saddling up Jack while i kept him calm. "Thank you for your time and care of my horses." I said swinging up onto my big black and white paint and taking Jack's reigns and heading over to the blacksmith to wait for Faraday. I seen Sam riding up to me with two others following him. "Mr. Chisolm, my brother and I will join you, just have to wait for him to finish up some business." I spoke once he was waiting by me.
"Well i see i shall thank you again, your name please?" Sam said calmly while the two others looked shocked.
"I'm Piper Faraday, my brother just goes by Faraday." I told them with a smile. Before anyone could reply Jack started whining and pulling at the bit, i sighed and flung the leather over his neck. "Bring him back here no matter what, I'll give you a sugar cube later." I ordered Jack, he nodded and took off, i just shook my head in amusement. "He never learns." I said with a smile, i laughed as Jack came prancing back over to me with a pouting Faraday, I took a sugar cube out and gave it to Jack.
"You keep spoiling my horse and he won't be my horse anymore." He said before noticing my company, he sighed. "Time already?" He asked softly.
"Yes it is, let's go." I said softly, he nodded and picked up his reins. We nodded and Sam lead us out of town and about an hours ride away to a ridge top. I nodded to Faraday and he nodded before kicking his horse off into a slow gallop.
"You go with Teddy." Sam said chuckling, Teddy nodded and took off after him. "Miss. Faraday would you care to lead us to our next stop? I'm afraid I don't know exactly where he's at." Sam said, i smiled and nodded leading us off towards the cabin where Vasquez is staying at. I slowed to a stop, and waved them on ahead. They nodded and continued on while i waited a few moments more and creeped up to the cabin, slipping off Paint and sneaking up on Vasquez. Easily slipping his guns off his hips and smiling at Sam. I gently set my chin on his shoulder making him spin to face me.
"Es fácil ahora no significó ningún daño, estimados, necesitamos tu ayuda." I spoke gently, handing him his left gun first and then his Right.
"Mi ayuda eh? Está participación?"
He asked placing both guns where they belong.
"Ella es nuestro empleador, cinco más se unan a nosotros en unos días." I told him calmly, he nodded and helped Emma get the lasso off and helped her up.
"Estás loca, sí que estoy en." He nodded as i smiled and nodded "Vamos entonces." He said as we walked back outside and to his horse, i smiled softly at the other two before going out and easily swinging up onto Paint with Vasquez beside me. Sam and Emma came out and got back on their horses before leading us to the junction we're to meet at. I stayed close to Vasquez knowing he only trusted me, i could feel his feelings of safety and trust in the back of my mind, letting me know he was an empath and a mind reader. I showed him my gifts while we were unsaddling the horses, he smiled and stuck even closer to me after that. I also told him about my brother and what he was like so he'd be somewhat prepared for him. We sat on a dead branch and just talked while Emma was over by the creek and Sam was lost in his thoughts. Like an echo of Vasquez's gift i felt the others ride up, we stood and whistled at Sam before moving towards the group. I nodded to Vasquez, letting him know it was who we expected and smiled as Goodnight greeted Sam, then Emma and then seen me. He walked over while Faraday talked to Sam about Billy.
"Hello ma'am i'm Goodnight Robicheaux." He introduced smiling, i smiled politely.
"Piper Faraday, this is Vasquez." I introduced back, he shook both our hands before ambling over towards the camp.
"Oh good we got a Mexican." Faraday said in a teasing voice, i felt Vasquez amusement as he nodded to Faraday. I left Vasquez side and walked over to Billy, helping him by unsaddling his horse. He nodded his thanks and we joined the others, him by Goody and me by Vasquez. I was getting used to feeling Vasquez in the back of my mind that I wasn't all that surprised when i felt his shock that my brother could give luck if he wished to. I smiled and put my ankle against his in reassurance, he calmed slightly and went back to peking in everyone's mind, me feeling an echo of what they think or feel through our link. I had to hide a smile at Billy's but other than that we shared stories about each other and our pasts, Faraday and I taking turns sharing parts of our past. Vasquez and I were the last ones awake and the first to arise that next morning. Staying awake till well after midnight watching my visions and deciphering them. I nodded off somewhere around 2 hours past midnight, leaning against Vasquez, i felt him wrap an arm around my waist holding me to him.
"Relájate, te tengo a ti mijo." He murmured soothingly into my ear and i fell asleep snuggled into his side with my left hand on his right gun.
