I FINISHED ACT I OF THE DEAR EVAN HANSEN BOOTLEG AND NOW I NEED TO START/FINISH ACT II

i finished listening to the audio (and reading along with the script) of bE MORE CHILL
it was at the two river theatre (theater?? i might be getting the two river part name wrong too))) in 2015 and it was based off the book by ned vizzini but the musical fandom doesnt really like the musical that much (or moreso, book michael compared to musical michael))
AND I FINISHED IT AND NOW IM READING THE BOOK AND OHMYGOD
first of all,,, michael in the book is also ehhhh like, in the musical in the opening song (more than survive) he's so chill and laidback and happy and i loVE HIM
but then in the book he's cruder, in his first lines of dialogue he says to jeremy when talking about jeremy talking to his (jeremy's) crush christine and michael's like "you're not p*ssying out" and god i hate that word and i was just rlly :////
another thing thats so weird is that in the musical michael is like average height/a little short and he's played by a hispanic actor ( filipino and ecuadorian) and has kinda floofy black smooth hair ,,, ,
but tHEN IN THE BOOK, he's described as super tall, super white with a "white boy afro" and im just sitting there reading that and thinkingg, "holy shit i cant imagine michael like this"
aLSO SO THERES THE MAIN GIRL CHRISTINE,, and in the musical she ignores jeremy but only because she just never really noticed him and shes nice to him but just not interested in him and shes super sweet i love her
and then in the book shes kinda slightly more mean girl-y she's a little rude to jeremy and i just sit there thinkingg,,, "she's the one who sang a whole song about how much she loves play rehearsal this is not the christine i know""
basically ive read farther into the book and i like it for the book, but if im comparing it to the musical then the characters are way more likable and i just prefer it
its not a bad book and id probably like it more if i didnt hear about it through the musical
