12:30 A.M. The bus we all sit on jolts up and down along the pothole filled road. The sky is a burnt mixture of orange and gray, like fire that had burned in the Academy fireplace not more than 6 hours ago.

I can't remember the last time I felt so alone. Although my life had a constant rain cloud hung over it, tainting my happiness the first time something joyous decided to happen, I always had someone there to share the pain with.

Although how happy can the life of a vampire be? You're created when another vampire bites the shit out of you, or your ripped from the stomach of your mother after conception and taken to the academy .

The second case was mine. My mother was Arin Aslanov. She had been Reborn in 1940, and had grown up before World War II in Russia. A little ways into the war, Stalin was rumored to have been trying to create an army of human-zees- a creature part human and part chimpanzee. Instead, his scientists created a virus that leaked all over the Asian continent, and infected my mother.

A sudden crack jolted my mind back to reality. A blot of blood stained the window I stared out of, tiny fractures threatening to break it. I started to move away from the glass, but felt something push back against me. Thinking it was my luggage, I pushed harder until I felt a hand slap my shoulder.

"Can I freaking help you?" whined a voice that I somewhat recognized.

"Hey sorry, I thought you were my luggage. Don't need to get your fangs-"

A sound escaped her lips as her fangs sprouted out, like they were being woken up from hibernation.

The chick hissed at me. HISSED AT ME. The last time someone hissed at me, there was a huge fight, and the mess all was completely destroyed. Let's just say I wasn't going to take any shit from anyone.

Then I studied her face. Her nose was a bit bloodied, and a black eye stood out on her pale skin. Her hair was in a mangled mess, and her mouth looked like there were tiny scratches imbedded into the surface.

"Uh sorry, it's okay," I tried not to sound too sarcastic, but it was harder to do than I thought, "you alright?"

"Yeah, I guess, just some rough housing," she murmured, trying to hide the pain in her voice.

I smiled faintly, then turned back to stare out the window.

It was only when I felt a pair of hands shaking my body vigorously back and forth that I realized had fallen asleep. It was the girl that been sitting next to me. Only she wasn't sitting next to me- she was trying to wake me up. And we weren't in the seats- we were on the floor. The orange from the sky had seemed to make its way inside the bus, seemed more intense.

The gray that had been mixed with the orange was now a suffocating charcoal, burning my lungs and throat.

"WAKE UP BITCH!" screamed the girl.

My mind instantly went into defense mode at the sound of that word. I used the move we learned in Defense Class, using my left leg to kick up, and I twisted my body so my foot connected with the girls head.

I felt the vibration of her fall, and I flew on top of her, baring my fangs.

"What the hell! I was trying to wake you up dumb ass! You hit your head on that last bump. Hurry up, they're getting-"

But she had no time to finish. A greenish-black creature jumped in through the broken window, screeching and throwing itself at the girl. I screamed, trying to hide or defend my body in some way, but a hoard of the creatures was already invading the crashed bus, turning the orange of the burning fire into a sea of dark colors.
