•Jason's POV•
Darkness. Despair. That's all this city truly is. As I lay here. Blood dripping from my forehead and rain pattering on the concrete sidewalk this is all I think about. The knife wound in my side stings as the cool rain hits it. I try not to scream.
"What's wrong little man?" My attacker asks wiping blood from his mouth where I had punched him. "You to weak to fight some more?"
I don't reply. The only action I am able to do is breathe. But even a simple task that that is a challenge.
"D-damn..you.." I'm barely able to get the words out.
"Fuck you kid." The man said as he kicked me in my ribs. I heard a crack and I gasped for air.
The world began to spin. My eyesight went dark. Am I dead? No. I can't be. Not yet..

//Flashback.//
It was a cool quiet day. The sun was setting as a mother, father, and son walked out of a theater. "Wow dad! Wasn't that movie awesome?!" The son exclaimed happily.
"Yes Jason it was." The father replied with a laugh.
The child ran ahead happily acting out a seen from the movie. He turned his head and yelled to his parents. "Hey! Catch up!" He continued to run and ran into a man. He fell on his back and looked up in horror.
"You should watch out where ya goin' kid.." The man mumbled pulling a gun out and pointing it at the kid.
The child's parents ran to him and saw the gun. "Put down the gun." The father started.
"We'll give you anything you'd like." The mom added throwing her purse to the ground.
"Hmph. Give me your diamond ring and I'll let the kid live." The man demanded.
The mother didn't give in. "No. You can't have this." She told the man stepping back.
"Fine then.." He redirected the gun and shot the father.
He fell to the ground with a thump as blood oozed from his chest.
"DAD!" The child shouted. He ran to his father and allowed the tears to flow from his eyes.
"Now. Would you rather see your kid die. Or give me that precious little ring?"
The mother didn't answer. She stayed still and silent.
"Times up!" The man said pointing the gun at the child.
"No!" The mother yelled running in front of her child. The man pulled the trigger and filled the child's mother with bullets.
He then ran and left the boy on his knees. His dead parents around him.
