!!!!!!!!!!
The rain poured down her body, down his body, down the streets, down the cars of the drunken acquaintances I'd made earlier. It seeped into her clothes, through her white shirt and jean shorts. But she didn't mind. She didn't have a lot of shame anymore, she lost that awhile ago. And she was drunk, that definitely takes the shame away too.
Jason noticed her shirt too. Even from a distance, I could see that.
And while he was probably giving her some long speech how he still loved her, he was staring down her shirt. I only could hope that she wasn't giving into her drunkenness and not standing for his bullsh!t. That was a stretch though, she'd always been in love with him.
They were kissing now, as the rain poured around them. It sent a bitter taste to my mouth, a bitter taste that mixed with the alcohol in my stomach and hit the ground, mixing with the rain. There was finally a break in cars and I jogged across the highway, praying that nobody forgot to turn their lights on and hit my poor self.
I took long strides through the grass until I reached their figures. Their lips were no longer attached and I stepped forward, taking her arm to pull her away. He was an a!shole, no doubt. She knew that too, but yet she shook off my grip and smiled at him. Even though it was raining, I could see her crying.
Her smile kept growing, till I was sure going to grow too big for her face. "You, my friend," she giggled. "are an a!shole. And, I'm over you. I wasted 3 years on you, but those three years are over. Bye, bye Jason. I better go before Zeke beats your face in. Although, I'd like to see that." She blew him a kiss as I dragged her away.
It was soothing, to lay with the seats reclined and listen to the rain tap against the metal roof of the car. The heat was blasted, both of us bare naked and wet-haired. It was a fairly normal Friday night, we'd both been getting blindingly drunk and then staying the night in her car for the night and maybe the next night too. Sometimes we had sex, sometimes we didn't. We weren't together by any means, I don't even know if you'd consider us friends. We just used each other to cope and get drunk with and protect ourselves from drunkenly getting back together with our exes.
James Bay was playing through the car radio, his voice whispering with the rain. She turned to face me, cracking a smile.
" Come on let it goooo,
just let it beeee.
Why don't you be youuu,
and I'll be me." She sang,
"And I'll be me." I finished the chorus.
"D!mn good song." She said and I muttered an agreement. She liked rap, I preferred r&b, but we had a little playlist of slower songs that we both loved dearly.
"I'm over Jason." She declared, letting out a content sigh. "When we kissed, I didn't feel anything. It wasn't some magic Notebook kiss in the rain. It was slimy and gross."
"When he was talking to you before, all he was doing was staring at your chest," I added. We laughed together.
"That horny b!stard."
Her hand found my jaw and she rubbed circles into it.
"But that's great, I'm happy for you, Venus," I said, sincere but ready for her to yell at me for calling her Venus.
"For the last time Zeke, if you call me Venus I will not hesitate to leave you ass-naked on the side of the road." She pouted.
"Does anyone ever call you Aphrodite?"
She laughed. "That's the lamest pick-up line I've ever heard, even for you."
"No, because Venus is the Roman god but the Greek equivalent is Aphrodite."
"Wait, actually?"
"Yeah, dumba!s. Can I call you Aph, [[pronounced ah-fff, like how you would say af or like the beginning of Aflack, the like duck insurance company thingy]] then?" Her face lit up.
"Of course, that's the most amazing nickname ever. What kind of goddess is she?"
"The goddess of love," I said, waggling my eyebrows at her.
"Okay, wow. Now I need a good nickname for you. What are the other gods?" She asked, facing me and giving me full attention. She was captivated by it.
"Well, there's Jupiter, King of the Gods, which is pretty suiting if you ask me." I sent her a suggestive look and she laughed. "Then there's Neptune, God of the Sea, there's Pluto, Vulcan, Apollo, Mars, Cupid, Saturn. I'm sure there's more but that's all I can remember. "
"Is there a god of Love?"
"You couldn't figure that out? Wow you really must've drank a lot tonight. It's Cupid. I think the Greek equivalent is Eros but I could be wrong."
"Maybe I'll call you Cupid, Cu [[pronounced like cue, like a pool cue]] for short."
"Goodnight, Aph."
"Goodnight, Cu."
Losing Control by Russ came on, and I could hear her whispering the words as she fell asleep.
"She's falling but she doesn't think you'll catch her
Cause her last relationship was a disaster
Accusations everyday she didn't know why
All her calls would be ignored he's on his own time
Shoulda' ended it before it started
All she ever got was broken hearted
He was cheating on her tryna' flip it
Back on her like a victim
Now she's all alone and starting over
Now she's got baggage on her shoulder
But the new guy really loves her
She loves him but she doesn't trust herself anymore
She's fallin' in love now
Losin' control now
Fightin' the truth
Tryin' to hide
But I think it's alright girl
Yeah, I think it's alright girl"

Wow, okay. I have such good ideas for this book, I'm so excited. Obviously, their relationship isn't under the best terms but it's exactly what I want to have in high school.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
[[also, read Swings !!!! It's my other book that I'm working on, I'm really excited for it]]
