I slowly stepped towards the door and rested my hand on the knob. I gently turned it and opened the door.

"Avery Jackson?" The police practically yelled making me flinch.

"Y-Yes sir." I responded.

"Turn around and put your hands behind your head."

"Officers may I know-"

"You are being arrested for the murder of Janessa Hamilton."

That was my aunt. To hear the name made me want to cry but doing that would only make me look more suspicious. I went to say something before being cut-off.

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him present with you while you are being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements."

I was startled as they handcuffed me. I felt as if the cuffs were cutting off the circulation to my wrists. I didn't worry about it and tried to ignore the pain I was feeling. They nearly dragged me out of my house and sat me down in the back of a police car. I looked out the window to see practically the whole neighborhood staring at me. Especially Kian.

I was in a dark room. One light shining on me. No windows only a metal door. Two guys stood beside me. One with a tape recorder and the other to question me. It was almost like I was in a mental institution because I couldn't handle my problems.

"Avery do you have anything you would like to say before we start?"

I opened my mouth as if I were going to say something but instead I shook my head.

"Ok well lets get started shall we? Do you have any connection with Janessa Hamilton?"

"Yes. She was my aunt."

"Your aunt?"

"Yes."

"Were you on the site of the accident the day it happened?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"She was my guardian. She was driving me home from school."

"Where are your parents?"

"I-I don't know."

"Can you explain the accident using full details?"

"I was waiting outside of school for my aunt to pick me up on her way home from work. As we were driving home a large blue diesel was coming from the left side of the intersection." I shifted in my chair feeling uncomfortable. The light made my eyes water.

"Did you happen to see the license plate?"

"No." I squinted.

"Ok you may continue."

"Well the diesel was coming maybe about 50-70 miles per hour."

"Was your light green?"

"I believe so. Yes. As the diesel hit us it made us flip maybe 3 or 4 times. My aunt was suffering from extreme pain and was having trouble breathing. By the time the paramedics got there she-she had passed away. I was lucky to even still be alive."

"And this is the truth? Am I correct?"

"Yes."

I was bawling and to bring these memories back up made me feel the exact same way on the day of the accident. It was as if I were reliving it.

"Thank you Avery I will have an officer escort you back home."

"Thank you."

The officer walked me up to my door. Tears still falling.

"I didn't do it." I stated.

"I believe you." He glared.

I walked in my front door. I felt nauseous. Dark circles had formed under my eyes and I felt like crap. I walked up the stairs struggling to keep my balance. I set myself on my bed and let myself cry. I heard a knock on my bedroom door and a small creak as they slowly opened it. I sat up from my previous position to see Jamie standing at the doorway.

"How are you?"

"Ive been better." I frowned.

I laid back on my bed and let myself sink into the bed sheets.

"Tired huh?"

"Ha yeah." I retorted.

"Ok well I just came to check on you. I'll be back soon." She beamed and walked out of the room.

I let out a long sigh and slid my shoes off before crawling into my blankets. I took a quick glance out of the window. I can't live here anymore. Things like this don't go away. They only get worse.

I let myself fall asleep. One of the many things I didn't want to happen. Nightmares would fill my mind and some would stay there forever. I won't forget. I physically can't forget.

I woke up to the sound of music. My neighbors across the street were throwing a party. I stretched my arms out and walked to the bathroom and stared at myself in the mirror. I splashed some water on my face and started to feel dizzy.

My phone began to ring. I walked over to my bed and grabbed it from the comforter. I took a look at the unknown number. I was debating whether to answer the call. I touched the answer button on the screen.

"Hello?"

"Avery?" The voice replied.

"Wh-who is this?" I said sounding scared.

I was waiting for an answer but instead all I could hear was heavy breathing.

"Who is this?" I demanded.

"Your mother." The voice replied.
