Chapter 13 Finale

We didn't have to travel far to find him. we found a river of lava when we entered the underworld and decided to follow down it's path. surprisingly enough the lava seemed to not have any effect on us, although we passed a few tortured souls that were being...Apollo seemed to know where the river was heading even though when i asked Luna about that she said they had never been at this river before, and i figured it probably had to do with the fact that Apollo has control over fire. "this way." Apollo said once we came to a crossroads he took us left and we began to see the shape of something huge. once we were much closer we saw a rectangular shape that was bigger than any skyscraper. we got even further and that's when i realized we at the gates to hell, which was two gigantic golden rims with huge golden bars separating with enough space to fit an arm through. a giant lock that needed a key hung from some of the bars. "great, how do we get in?" i asked. "we don't need to." Luna said. Luna and Apollo began to change form and became a pool of water and a blaze of flames. they both slipped right through. "how does that help me?" i yelled. "hold on!" Luna shouted. i stood around a few moments and then i heard a sound that reminded me of a hair pin or something pick locking a key hole. i turned to look at the gates and noticed Luna and Apollo with a huge paper clip in where the key was supposed to be. after a few seconds i heard 'click' and suddenly the gates opened. "we didn't just open our world to the worst demons imaginable now did we?" i asked as we ran further through the gates. "no, that was just to keep humans out. the one to keep demons in is invisible normally." Luna said. we ran for what felt like hours and then noticed a huge burgundy castle up ahead of us. we made it inside and saw a familiar figure standing before us. "hello, Jake. recognize me? no. how about this lovely creature." the figure turned around while hold a woman tied up and gagged. i knew them both the man was Lucifer in the body of a kid still, except he wasn't a kid any more, and the girl was Jessica, the one I've been trying to find. "Jessica!" i yelled reaching out my hand. Lucifer put a knife up to her throat and said "nuh uh uh. you're not allowed any closer." Lucifer said. "Lucifer!" i said angry. "heh, you do remember me!" he said happy and full of joy. "i'm really touched." Lucifer said. Apollo seemed to disappear for a moment and Lucifer payed no attention to it at all. "well now, i see you brought some friends." he said. Wix popped out of my pocket and flew right at Lucifer full speed. Lucifer wiped Wix away onto the floor and said in full disgust "stupid cockroach." Lucifer put one of his feet up into the air and was about to bring it down when i quickly without hesitation jumped in front of Wix and was stepped on instead i cried in pain from the force Lucifer was using. "fool, should've let her die. now you will." Lucifer said. i looked up in pain as Lucifer began kicking me over and over adding more strength behind every kick. i saw Jessica with tears in her eyes and knew this had to end fast. i scooped Wix into my arms and when Lucifer had begun to lift his foot up again i rushed out of the way and set Wix down on the ground. "Luna, take care of her." i said and my gray and black wings expanded revealing them. Jessica's eyes widened in disbelief, but quickly went back to normal. "you're gonna die here and now Lucifer." i said trying to be brave, but the truth was i didn't know if i could beat him, he was just too powerful. Jessica was thrown aside on the ground and i quickly took the opening to push Lucifer and i off a ledge of the castle and further down into the underworld. "you're a fool!" Lucifer told me as we plummeted deeper into he abyss. "maybe i am." i said calmly. "but at least, I've got more than one thing to fight for." i said before we hit he ground. Lucifer was already up and on top of me trying to strangle me before i was fully conscious. i had little to no strength left until a big rumble in the ground woke me up fast. i took Lucifer's hands off of me and pinned him to the ground and began choking him. "you'll never win. my army has already met the other." he said i realized the rumble must've been the two sides starting their battle and i needed to hurry this up. "i'm immortal, and you're nothing but a relic of a lost past in a human form." Lucifer said. "yeah? well at least i can still do this." i said throwing my fist up into the air before pausing for a moment. i looked deep into Lucifer's eyes and saw a trapped little boy that seemed to be crying out. "please, do it, kill me!" i heard in my head. i didn't even think to realize Lucifer may have been in this boys body, but what about the boy? "if you're gonna beat me up hurry it then. my power is already drained as it is from this disgusting human." Lucifer said. mad at thinking of the boys words and what Lucifer had just said i lowered my fist and brought Lucifer to his feet. still holding onto him by the neck i looked down below us to see a pool of lava. "do it!" i heard in my head again. i looked away closing my eyes as i dropped the man no the boy into the pool of lava. i looked down after a few seconds and said to Lucifer "you aged that poor boy, robbed him of his life. you shall be damned to never walk the earth again, and i'll make sure of that." i flew as fast as i could to reach the top, and i barely made. Luna was still tending to Wix with Jessica by her side out cold. Apollo was nowhere to be seen, but when i asked Luna she said "don't worry, he's finding us a way out." so we waited, but i was in a hurry and impatient since the war has already begun. a few minutes later Apollo found us and simply said "follow me." i carried Jessica over my should with Luna's help. Wix was put in my pocket for safekeeping, and we followed Apollo down the lava river, but taking a different path instead. "this is a shortcut." he said. we followed him up a new flight of stairs and found ourselves in a forest with the nearby sounds of swords and bows and other weapons and war cries being shouted all over. i laid Jessica down and told everyone to stay put. i flew up into the sky and found angels fighting with what i could only guess was fallen angels, which instead of the customary white wings had black wings. i flew over in between the two charging armies with my hands out and quickly gained their attention. "ENOUGH!" i said. both sides dropped their weapons. i didn't know how i was doing it, but i seemed to be controlling the armies. "end this now. OR ELSE!" i said. both armies hung their heads in shame and stood still quiet. "you, go back to the underworld. and you, go back to heaven. earth is not a battleground." i said. both armies retreated. i landed on my feet and Luna and everyone came over happy and excited that it was all over. "now we can stop worrying." Luna said. "i'm not so sure, that was far too easy." i said. suddenly a bright light appeared nearly blinding everyone a familiar angel in battle armor appeared. "he has requested a private meeting with you." the angel said. "i know you, you're-" i said before i found myself face to face with a huge figure sitting on a throne of pure white light. "hello, Jake." the figure said. "uh." i said amazed the what i saw. he was so huge i couldn't see his face or most of his body for that matter. "i have an offer for you." the giant said. "OK. what is the offer?" i asked. "i will grant you immortality, and for free i shall restore your lost memories." he said waving his hand. "i don't want immorality, and i'm not going to choose a side." i said. suddenly everything in my mind exploded. i began remembering everything about my time in another world. "if you wish to do so, you must give up your powers once and for all. i shall give you your memories forever, however not choosing heaven or hell will be problematic once you've died." the giant man said. "wait, who is the person in the story i heard of in the other world?" i asked confused. the man laughed and said with a deep voice that seemed to make the room crackle "that is my brother." "well, i'll take the memories and leave i guess?" i said. "just remember, you'll always be welcome here." the man said. "before i go, Lucifer, he's not dead is he?" i asked. "no. you only delayed his army, with a little help. that boy is what your more worried about, don't be he is safe here." the man said before i was quickly teleported back to where everyone was gathered. "you know, this open field seems like a good place to end a book." i said. everyone, except Jessica who was still out cold laughed. Wix woke up in my pocket and was laughing with us. a few weeks after stopping the armies making a earth a battleground i discovered i could no long spread my wings, and my sword and sheath were tucked away in my closet along with my long jacket. Wix seemed to fade from my mind a little bit and Jessica and i only rarely talk about what happened, as for everyone else? Austin doesn't remember being possessed, lucky him, and my parents had come home after a very long and delayed trip. no one else knew about that stuff i'd gone through and they all assumed i was sick. although a week after that Wix popped into my room slamming her head against a wall "ouch, Jake!" she said smiling and rushing over to hug me. "we've got a lead on where Lucifer is!" Wix said. "what? where? wait, i can't help remember? I've lost my powers again." i said. "not where he is right now. he's in the other world! you could have your powers again for as long as your there!" she said. "didn't i kinda, you know, die there? and doesn't everyone else think i'm dead?" i asked. "doesn't matter come on, adventure!" she said. "you know, some day, you'll be the biggest pain in my side that'll get me killed." i said opening my closet for one last time.
