David exited his room quietly, hoping nobody would notice he was leaving the house. He stopped once he stood outside of his mothers room, she was laying in the bed motionless. David was a young lad, thirteen years old dirty blonde hair with his bright hazel coloured eyes.

He walked into the room and stood beside his mothers bed. All her hair was gone, tubes connected to different parts of her body.

"Mom...?" He whispered quietly.

She turned to him slowly, forcing a smile onto her face. "David..." her voice was weak and dry, due to her dry mouth. "My sweet baby... I love you, and I always will... you can make it through this life, yeah you're Dad is a jerk, but I might go one day..." She seemed to choke on her own words as she spoke.

"Mom?" David said in concern.

No reply.

"Mom?" David repeated, then began to shake her. "Mom!?" Hot tears began streaming down his cheeks from his eyes. "Mom!? Please! Wake up! Mom!"

His father walked in, noticing his dead wife in the bed. She was gone. Anger filled him. He looked at David, and stomped over towards him.

"What did you do!?" His father shouted into his face. "What'd you do!?" He quickly gave David a big slap on the cheek.

David cried more as his whole cheek turned bright red. He tried pushing his father away, but he was too big to be pushed around by a small thirteen year old.

About thirty minutes later, David was sitting on his bed facing a mirror. His whole faced was cut up with scars and covered with bruises. He was crying. He opened his drawer, seeing a black, long switchblade he had earned from shoplifting. Slowly, he picked it up and tip toed over to the living room.

"What a poser..." His father said, obviously drunk.

On the screen, he was watching something about a dude that was nineteen. He had on some suit with the Canadian flag on his chest and a shield. David got back to focus, and snook behind his Dad whom was sitting in the recliner with a beer in his hand. David stabbed the knife into his father's shoulder, he got up screaming then fell onto the TV.

"Sorry, Dad..." David mumbled. He walked over to his Dad as he lied on the floor groaning. Then, repeatedly started stabbing his Dad in the chest screaming.

David stood there covered in blood and with the blade in his hand. The door was busted open, police came in looking at the whole scene. One of the officers walked up to David, he was a young one.

"Hey, kid." He started. "I'm private Calvin. Uhm, can you tell me what happened here?"

David was crying, he slowly looked up at the officer. "I killed him..." He mumbled. "He's dead because I killed him..."

The officer gulped and called over some of his men. He told them what had happened after David explained everything. The two bodies were carried out, Calvin stood by the door looking at David whom didn't move a muscle.

He ran through the forest quickly, looking around hoping he wasn't followed. This was his seventh town he robbed for his clan. After a bit of running, he stopped and sat against a tree. He pulled a green apple out from his bag and took a huge bite out of it. Suddenly, he heard a twig crack.

"Anyone there?" He called out. No reply. "Stupid animals..." He muttered.

In a couple seconds, a chain was tossed around his neck from behind a tree. It was pulled forcefully against his throat. He gagged, gripping his hands around the chain trying to pull it off. It was then let go, he crawled forward and fell to the ground. He tried getting his breath back.

"Huff, huff. W-what...?" He tried speaking.

A tall man, holding a bat in his right hand, walked up to him. He put the chain around his shoulder. The strange man had been wearing a skull for a mask. The thief scooted away backwards, the strange man whacked the thief in the temple with the bat.

"P-please!" The thief cried.

The strange man lifted the bat, then swung down into the thiefs jaw breaking it.

"Please never works..." The strange man says. "Trust me, I lost my mother and please didn't work."

"I'm sorry for your loss." The thief said. "I truly am."

"No. You're not." The strange man replied. He lifted the bat, then crashed it into the man's head. The head was instantly demolished.

Later, he brought the stolen stuff back to the town. He set the items on a desk in front of the mayor.

"Thank you." The mayor said with a huge smile. "Where's the thief?" He asked as he handed the man gold coins.

"Took care of him myself." The strange man replied. Then, he turned and started walking out.

"Thanks, sir." The mayor shouted.

"Call me Cross-Bats." The man replied, then left.

He entered his apartment, and took off his suit. He then hopped onto his bed soon before someone busted through his door. It was captain Calvin. He tossed a file down into the desk beside David.

"What have I told you about killing, David?" Calvin shouted.

"I was paid." David replied shrugging.

"You were paid to get the items and take the thief back!" Calvin yelled.

"I was bored."

"David..." Calvin sat on the ledge of the bed. "I know I'm not your actual father, but I do care for you. I saved you from getting in a insane asylum. I don't want you doing these things."

"Then you should've let it happen, I'm obviously insane."

Calvin stood up and quickly walked out of the apartment room in anger. David shrugged as he was left alone, then pushing the file off his bed with his foot.

His phone buzzed, David woke up and checked his phone. Private number. He answered anyways.

"Hello?" He said sleepily.

"David Kent?" A mysterious voice said into the phone.

"What do you want?" David asked.

"A favor." The voice said. "I want you to kill Captain Canada."
