I loaded my suitcase into the car and shut the door. I don't know where I'm headed but I need change. I left my aunt a note but she probably won't care anyway. I hop into the car and start it up. It's already 2:00 in the afternoon, hopefully I can make good distance before I have to stop for the night.
Five hours later and I'm rocking out to my favorite song. "Take the time to waste a moment!" I sing out loud when suddenly my car jerks a little and starts to slow. I turn the music down and sit helplessly as my car rolls to a stop. Ugh! Out of gas and I'm in the middle of nowhere.
I reach for my phone and pull up my search engine. Nearest gas station is... ugh three miles. I could walk the three miles but it's already dark. I might as well just stay here and sleep for the night. I lock my doors and lean my seat back. It's only 7:00 so I don't know how I'm gonna fall asleep.
I pull up Netflix on my phone and watch Zootopia, one of my all time favorites. Before I know it I've seen three Disney movies, I'm drifting off to sleep.I rub my eyes groggily and try to remember where I am. Oh yea, car's out of gas. I hop out of the car and sign, looks like I'm walking for a bit. I grab my phone but it's dead, maybe I can buy a charger at the gas station. I start walking down the high way. It looks like it might rain and I really hope it doesn't.
I had been walking for about 20 minutes when I hear a strange noise. Like some kind of animal, as if these woods weren't creepy enough. I don't even know where I am and I'm about to be eaten by a bear or something... great! I walk faster hoping whatever that was won't notice me.
I walk for five more minutes when I hear a noise again. I stop and look around, the city sounds kind of nice right about now.
"Can I help you?" A voice has me screaming and jumping right out of my skin. I turn around quickly and come face to face with a guy whose probably a few years older than me. He has sandy brown hair and pale green eyes.
"Oh um, my car ran out of gas a couple miles back... uh, where did you come from?" I look around me and don't see any cars. I back away slightly and he smirks. "Hey cool it, I live near by. I'm mostly harmless." Mostly harmless? What does that even mean?
"Come on you." He says, "Lets walk back to my place and I'll drive you to a service station." We turn and walk into the woods, I have my guard way up cause this is sketchy. "So what's your name?" I ask, breaking the silence. "I'm Kit. It's more of a nickname but that's what everyone calls me." "I'm Annie", I reply, "So if Kit's a nickname then what's your real name?"
He lets out a little bit of a sigh, "It's a long story that I'm sure you don't have time for." Well ok then. "Alrighty." I say.
We reach a small house in the middle of the woods. It's a cabin with a faded red roof. It seems like a rustic homey place. Exactly the kind of thing I want someday. The screen door of the house slams open and an angry looking guy storms out.
"Kit where have you been? I've been waiting on you for an hour." The guy seems to just notice me. "Oh great and what's this?" Kit rolls his eyes. "Jake this is Annie, Annie meet Jake." I just stare and don't say anything. The guy looks annoyed and pushes his blond hair out of his eyes. Brown eyes and blond hair, interesting combo.
"Look, Kit, just get rid of the girl. We have things to do." I scoff. "Look jerk, I just need a ride to a gas station just give me a phone and I'll call a cab." Jake scowls, then looks at Kit and walks away. "No need for a cab Annie, I'll drive you." Kit smiles at me mischievously, "Let's get going."
