Fathers...

Walking into my father's house, or.... castle, was much harder than it seems. No one could get in without permission or you have to get a tour of the castle. Taru and Tamuka decided to get us into a tour. They couldn't figure out how to get the permission we needed to enter the castle to meet my father.

The castle was enormous. The chandeliers were made if literal gold, some of the rooms' floors were made of glass, the walls were covered with pictures of nobles, also all of the ceiling had paintings of witches and warlocks made to look like angels. Every piece of furniture was worth a fortune. The guards there wouldn't even let you touch a pen. They each were worth about a thousand dollars. At least that is what the tour guide said. He was probably right because one man slipped one of the pens in his suitcase, as soon as he did, a guard dragged him while he said, "I didn't do anything!" That was such a lie.

Soon, we came to the ballroom where an organist was playing his instrument. And the king was there. My father was there. He came there to greet us. Some of the kids in the tour group started to run to him. The guards tried to stop them but he held up his hand to them and let the children come. It was obvious why the children wanted to go to him. His clothing was extravagant. His shirt was white with gold lining and buttons, the pants were red with blue silk as the lining, his coat was white also but very long which went to his thighs, his boots were black and went up to his knees. Basically like a king from any movie you've seen on TV. He surely lived up to his title. King Hiroto.

I tried to walk up to my "long-lost-father", but soon realized I couldn't. The were guards surrounding him thought the little children were pushing it enough. An eighteen year old was way past pushing it.

"What are you doing?", said one of the guards as he put a hand up to stop me.

"Trying to talk to the king."

"State your business with him, peasant."

Even though I knew this guard knew none of my family history, I was getting agitated. I know he didn't just call me a peasant! My father was his LEADER!? I AM TOO! AND HE CALLS ME A PEASANT!? WHAT KIND OF LOGIC IS THAT?!

Taru could sense that I was getting angry. He walked the little distance between us and held on to my shoulder and waist. I struggled a little but realized he was trying to help. I let Taru talk to the stubborn, bitter guard. He had a big fake smile on his face before he started talking. Taru said, "Excuse us, sir. My wife meant no harm to your king nor yourself. She  just wanted to have a word with him that's all. We will be out of your way now." The guard nodded his head in understanding. We walked backwards away slowly with smiles painted on our faces. When we were finally in the clear, Taru turned me around to look me in the face. "I know it is hard to see him right there but not get to actually go talk to him. I know it is..... But you still need to remember you are not recognized as his daughter or the kingdom's princess, yet. So you have to wait until we get you a meeting with him. Do you comprehend what I am saying?", he said. Of course I did. I already kind of knew it in my head but I tried to deny it. I wanted to see my father. Now. Who wouldn't want to see one of the people who made them?

Tamuka, Taru, and I had to find out another way to meet with my father. Quickly. Turns out he will be leaving the kingdom soon to negotiate peace with another king, King Kishoti. Great. Just great, right? Anyway.... It seems that I am in a chess game at an impossible move. I only have one more peace. My king. All my pawns have been captured. I could move forward but I would have a very extreme chance of being caught. If I were to move backward, I would be cornered. My only chance, to take a risk and move forward or else I would be in an everlasting game of suspense.
