- was thinking of a plot for Mother's day but ended up writing this instead lol.
- this is like a dad version of "Meeting Nadine" 😂

Ivan could only blinked when a red blur passed in front of him.

"Jake. Don't run." Nadine chided, though she didn't look up from the stove.

"Yeah." Jacob had said, though he was still moving fast.

"Good morning, Jake." Ivan had greeted, smiling warmly at his godson.

Jake looked up and smiled in surprise when he saw him. "Uncle Ivan! I didn't notice you there! Good morning!" He said.

Ivan nodded. "Are you going somewhere?" He asked, taking note of Jake's appearance. He was wearing a red hoodie, a familiar ripped jeans (he was sure those were James's) and a bag was hung over his body.

Nadine deposited a plate of bacons to the table and said, "Jake has a date today." answering Ivan's question.

Ivan looked at Jake here, surprised, but happy for the young guy all the same.

"It's not a date." Jake had immediately said, though. "It's just Nicole, mom."

Nadine looked at her oldest.

"You and Nicole are going to the amusement park." She said.

"Yeah." Jake said.

"All the way to Laguna." She continued.

"So?"

"Just the two of you." She added.

"It's just Nicole." Jake repeated, though there was a faint blush creeping on his face.

"And you brought her two gifts." His mom finished.

Seemingly not having anything else to say, Jake resorted to, "Mom!"

His mom shook her head in amusement and exasperation and offer some bacons for Ivan.

"What about you Uncle Ivan? What are you doing here?" Jake asked, trying not to look flustered and trying to change the subject. Ivan could tell. He knew Jake wasn't really surprise to see him there. The squad always go to their house for meet ups or whenever they just wanna hang out.

"I don't know exactly myself, actually." Ivan answered Jake. "Your dad just called me. I guess he just wanna hang out. He called Sam and the others, too, but they have work."

"Oh." Jake said, nodding while eating. "Where is dad?" He asked.

"He went out while talking to your Uncle Alex on the phone." He said, inwardly wondering what happened to the guy.

As if on cue, James had returned to the dining room. He grinned when he saw his son and sat next to him.

"Jake! You're up! So, ready for the date?" He asked, excitedly.

Jake's blush came back.

"It's not a date! It's only Nicole!" He exclaimed.

"Huh?" James just said, obviously wasn't really intending to tease but was just genuinely happy for his son.

"Who is this Nicole?" Ivan tried to change the subject, feeling a bit sorry for his godson.

"Oh, you know her, Ivan. She's a child actor. You remember Jack's last movie? She was there." He said.

Ivan blinked. Jack's last movie was an indie movie focusing on orphans. There were so many children there. "Which one?" He asked.

"Her name was Nene in the movie." Jake said.
