This is the first story that I have written on wattpad, I'm excited to hear what your response as a reader is. I am writing about the events that have unfolded in my life over the past 4 to 6 years, and pressent day. I have changed the name of the people that are in the story to respect their privacy.
Chapter 1: "What we are is God's gift to us, what we become is our gift to God."
The story that I'm about to tell you could begin at any point, and has many points to many beginnings. I guess it started on the first day of my sohomore year in high school, or it could have started the Halloween of that very same year. But I guess that I will start right at the beginning where it all began.
It all began about 2 years after I heard that my Grandfather was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, and a newspaper article that was written about him. If that news paper article were not written, I would not be going to college to get a degree in Special Education, and I would certainly not be writing the story that you are now about to read.
It was February 22, 2010. The day that would shape the rest of my life. It was about 2 weeks before my grandfather died. A really good friend of his wrote an article of himin the news paper about the day before. At that time, I did not know that it would be the last time that I would see him alive. My Dad had taken my sister and I to visit with our grandfather many times. Usually i would find him lying in the recliner of office where we would watch tv.But this time was different, both my sister and I knew it. Our grandfather had just been put in hospice care the week before.
As we both entered the room to give him a hug, I could not help but notice how weak he started to look. The weakness was in his eyes, Grampa (As I used to call him) lost so much weight that he started to look like a skeleton. Just seeing the weakess, and saddness in his eyes struckk me.Some of the family was there watching the winter Olympics hockey games with us. I had to take some time to myself in the kitchen, where 2 of my uncles were going through some old photos of Grampa.
If you have seen this, you know is going on.
My uncles were going through pictures that would be in a slide show for Grampa's funeral. I piled up a chair next to my godfather. I found some yearbooks from the late 1940's, which I found out belonged to my Grampa. I found something in there that supposed me, it was a picture of both my Grandma and Grampa in their high school student council. The picture said that he was the class president and that Grandma was the student council secretary. I asked my uncle what he knew about this. He told me that it was the first time that he had ever seen it, and to my surprise he showed everyone at the table.
What I remember moat about that day is the emotions that were on the faces of the people at the table.
