The Girl Who Runs With Wolves

Chapter 3

      I stand up straight and look down at my hands. "Why are you still here?" Scott says with a blank face. "Huh?" I voice my confusion out loud. "I asked you why you are still here? In my territory, around my pack." Ok what? This guy makes no sense. What does he mean by his territory? I though this was Jake's house.
      "I'm sorry I don't understand-" "Well are you dumb? Stupid? How about clueless?" He steps toward me and then stops. He stands for a moments looking right above my head and not saying anything. I turn and look behind me, there's nothing there. "Uh...hello?" He looks back at me. "Sorry I... never mind." He turns and walks away quickly. Um what the heck?
      I walk back into the living room and sit back in my spot by Kit. Should I ask what the heck just happened? "You alright, Annie? I didn't embarrass you too bad did I?" Kit greets me. "Ha ha very funny.", I sign, "Look this is all new to me, I've never lived on my own, I'm normally not this bold. I'm actually kinda shy and I didn't have friends back home... like at all. And I'm just an awkward person in general so..."
      "Annie, shut up." I look up at him with wide eyes. He smiles at me and I smile back. "You know, It's kind of annoying when you ramble." I stick my tongue out at him. "Hey Annie!" Jennifer calls me from across the room, "We're gonna play charades, wanna join?"
      Kit and I join the others and play charades for what feels like hours. Around 10:00 I decide to head home, I ask Kit for a ride and he seems more than ok with taking me home. I say bye to Kit and walk to my door. It was a good night, hopefully this is the beginning of good times. I shower quickly and hop into bed.

      I wake up to hear strange sounds outside. I roll over and grab my phone, 1:00 am. Ugh. I shut my eyes to fall back asleep when I hear glass breaking. I sit up straight. Now wide awake. I hop out of my bed, grab my baseball bat for safety and step out of my room. I flip on the lights but I don't see anything. It must have been outside.
      I take a deep breath to calm myself down. You can do the Annie, be brave. I quickly swing the door to my apartment open and look outside. The parking lot seems normal. I hear a strange panting noise coming from my left, I follow the sound and round the corner of the building. Oh my god it's a bear. I take a step back as the creature turns quickly. Ok not a bear, a wolf. A very very large wolf and it's looking right at me.
      I takes a step toward me and I scream and swing the bat towards it. He catches he bat in his hand- his hand? I blink my eyes several times but not matter what I'm still looking at a man. Not just any man, it's Scott. The wolf just turned into Scott. What the- "Annie, please stay calm." He was a wolf! He is a wolf! Oh my god! I start breathing heavy and I take a step back. "Annie", he gives me a warning look. I keep moving back and he reaches toward me. I scream, turn on my heels and run faster than I've ever ran before.
      My feet are bare and they probably would have hurt but the adrenalin kept me moving. I run right out of the parking lot and down the road. I look back to see a the black wolf chasing me. I let out a blood curdling shriek and run faster, if that's even possible.
      Through the tears running down my face I see headlights in front of me. I run towards them and see a familiar grey jeep. "Kit!" I scream. I see him jump out of the car and he runs toward me. He reaches me and grabs me, stopping me from running further. "Kit, we have to run! We have to go!" I scream and look behind me only to see nothing there. 
      "I got you. It's ok. Let's get in the car, and I'll explain everything I promise." He leads me to the car and the whole way I'm a mumbling mess. "He-he was- oh god." Kit coaxed me into the car. He drives quickly and he look nervous the whole way.
He pulls the car into his driveway. "Explain", I say. He signs and runs a hand through his hair. "We're werewolves. All of us. Scott, me, Katie, Jen, Landon, and Jake. I know it sounds crazy but I can explain it all." He grabs my hands. "Annie please don't freak out." I exhale slowly. "Kit, what the hell? If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I probably would have laughed at you. But I'm a little too freaked out to laugh. Do y'all like, eat people?" Kit starts laughing and I wack him in the arm.
"This isn't funny! I almost had a heart attack and I'm tired because my sleep got interrupted and- how did you know where I was and what was going on." I look at him skeptically. "Let's get some sleep and we'll talking in the morning." He says. What the heck. He's gonna drop a bomb on me like this and then say oh just go to sleep! Not likely pal!
Kit sticks me in a guest room where I spend all night laying there trying to get the horrifying image of a wolf man out of my head. I'm almost falling asleep when a sudden thought hits me. When scott turned into a person again... he was naked.
