Chapter 1: The Contest

When the announcements came on in first period like they do every morning my class didn’t pay any attention as usual. That is until the word contest was said. “Say good luck to the people have been accepted to compete in a contest after school.” Said the principle “These people must stay after school and go to the gym,” she continued. I didn’t listen to all the names said except I herd some of my friend’s names. I made a mental note to congratulate them for being accepted. Then I heard my name. My name. I hadn’t signed up for any contest, how could I be called? “All of your parents will be notified that you are participating in this contest. I have no idea what it is but all I have been told specifically is the names of you, where you need to go and this, good luck you are going to need it to survive. So that’s it with the announcements. I hope all you students and teachers have a wonderful day.” And the intercom clicked off. I wondered what the contest was but before I could really think about it my global studies teacher started talking about Japan’s history.

Chapter 2: Lunch

I walked into the cafeteria with my books in my hands. I have never stopped at my next period to drop them off because my teacher has a class with other students when we have lunch. Anyways, I sat down with my friends as usual and I over herd my friend KK talking to my other friend Natalie. "Did you here the announcement this morning about that contest? I didn't ever sign up to be in one, not that I don't want to be in it though." she said. I looked at KK and said "I was listed too, and I didn't sign up either." I hadn't been paying attention during the announcement so I asked "Who else is in this contest?" "I know that Helena, Bridget, and Faizza are in it." said kk, "besides me and Natalie." " Me and Greta are in the competition two." said my other friend named Lizzie. " Well we all know that this contest is very weird, especially sense the vice principle doesn't know much about this either." I said to my peers. the rest of the lunch was very quiet compared to usual. We all looked kind of worried two.

Chapter 3: TO The Gym

The rest of the day seemed very slow. finally the bell rang and I went to the gym and found my friends. 5 minutes later our principle came onto the announcements saying "all teachers report to the main entrance their is a surprise meeting and I have decided to do it outside." and soon their was no one in the building except for the students who were told to stay for the contest. Their was a projector on the long wall of the gym and the bleachers were pulled out to face it. the lights went out in the gym and words showed up on the projector telling us to sit in the bleachers.

after we all were seated the projector went through the rules of the competition. basically no cheating, don't be mean, don't be scared, and once you are eliminated you are eliminated permanently. all the rules seemed perfectly normal except for the one about fear, that one stumped me a little. a voice came on, one that no one recognized saying "leave now or forever hold you peace, ok, I guess no one is afraid. the first competition is running. if you lose you will be eliminated. let the competition begin." immediately the projector changed to a different slide telling everyone in the gym to go to the wall with the rock wall and stand behind all the lines. it took a while to get everyone over and while we were moving I noticed that everyone in the gym was in my grade. another screen pulled down from the ceiling on the other side of the room. then the sign counted down without any delay,  3 2 1 GO!
