I flew over trees, fields, and towns. I felt SkyBird's necklace that was now on my neck. Seagulls cawed underneath me. I looked down at them. They were so small, so delicate. I never really thought of how fragile a life was, yet here I was thinking of how delicate seagulls can be. I shook my head and swooped up. I threw myself into white puffy clouds. One thing many people didn't know was that clouds were full of water. I liked getting the water hitting my face. It was refreshing.
"Where are the others?" I said to myself. I looked around for any trace of them. I landed in a tree and was about to hop down when I stopped myself. There were a few men in black suits near the tree I was in. I squinted my eyes to see what the men were doing. It looked like they were talking to some people. I outstretched my wings and was ready to take off.
"Hey there's the girl who escaped! Get her!" one of the men in a black suit screamed as he pointed at me. I grinned then took off into the sky. At least these guys didn't have a helicopter to bring them in the air. I knew that they might have guns on them. I knew that they were probably gonna start shooting at me. I looked back down at them. The men were just standing there watching me leave as if I was normal. I shrugged it off.
"They probably don't have any weapons on them," I said reasuring myself it was nothing to worry about. I landed in a deserted alley in a town. The sun was still shining bright. It puzzled me that no one was out on a day like this. I slowly and cautiously walked out of the alley way. No one was outside at all.
"This feels like a deserted town from the days of the cowboys," I said to myself trying to lighten the mood. Even though there was no one out I felt as though I was being watched. I got down on my knees and began praying to God. I prayed that the flock was okay and safe. I prayed that I would find them and then defeat the president. I finished my prayer with Amen. I opened my eyes and almost screamed. There were about five men in black army suits surrounding me. The president walked over to me.
"It's such a pity that you were so close to escaping. Too bad it has to end like this," the president said pointing a gun at me. My eyes widened. Fear and adrenaline were going through my body. The fear of dying was going through my mind. No. It wasn't the fear of death that scared me. It was the fear of leaving my friends behind. Leaving the flock behind was something I just couldn't do. I would not accept it.
I lunged at the president and the gun. I put my left hand on the barrel of the gun and with my right hand tried to yank the gun out of the president's hands.
"Let go of the gun!" the president yelled at me. I refused and gritted my teeth. If I was to die I would at least die fighting. Seagulls were flying overhead. A seagull looked down just a gun shot went off. The seagulls cawed then flew away.
I jumped up. I wiped a bead of sweat from my forehead. I looked around. I was in a white room laying down on a white bed. There was a window. On the other side I could barely make out a man in a white lab coat. He was watching me. He stood up and walked away from the window. My head was throbbing and there were bright lights on the ceiling. My body was sore. I looked down at myself. I was wearing a hospital like gown. Again something you would see only in horror movies. I had some IVs in my arms. The door opened up. The man that I saw in the window walked in. He had a chart in his hands.
"Good morning Hero. I see you've recovered from the procedure," the man said with a small smile.
"What procedure?" I asked. didn't have any recollection of a procedure.
"I performed a surgery on you to find the cause to why you have grown wings," the man replied.
"No you didn't. I escaped," I countered.
"No you didn't escape. We put you to sleep," the man explained.
"I woke up in a concrete room, got out, then heard you and president talking. Then I ran and got caught. Before you were able to put me out though I escaped," I stated.
