The One

Chapter 1 - Her Arival

I keep running and running, not looking back to possibly see if they've stopped following me. My black cloak waves along my back as I keep running yet my hoodie still covers my face. Ember, my tiny fox friend, is in my bag squwearming making things harder, but that's what I would do if I was in a tiny space like that. I look up ahead and spot a large gate, If I look back and they're following me, I could scream and the gaurds from the village ahead would help me...but in the proccess...I might die... I think more before I stop and look around. No ones there..I sigh and think All of that running...was for nothing..? Possibly..?  I look at the gates of the village, gaurds are on the walls protecting and spotting anything that may look out of place. "Heh..good thing I'm in the shadows in the forest.." I mumble to myself. I look around again and straighten up, pull my hood more so that it covers my face, and I walk towards the gates while letting Ember out of my bag. One gaurd that's standing in front of the gates see me and walks towards me while his armor clangs with every movement the gaurd makes, "Welcome to Scourging Fire. What is your business here and what is your name?" the gaurd asks, "Why does it matter?" I reply calmly, looking at the gaurd from head to toe. "That's secret information. Now, I will ask you again. What is your business here and what is your name?" I roll my eyes and use my nickname instead of my true name, "Seeker. That's my name. And as for why I am here, I travel and I was looking for a place to stay for the night..."

The gaurd seems like he or she might not believe me so the gaurd was about to send me off when a woman comes to the gates and looks at the gaurd, "Jack, let her pass." she says, "But..-" "Jack. We have gaurds everywhere. She can't do anything reckless if she wanted to." Jack sighs and yells at the other gaurds to raise the gates, Jack bows at the woman and looks at me. I walk past him and follow the woman, while we're walking I pick up Ember and put him on my shoulders. I didn't get a good look at the girl so I watch her. She has Blond hair with some red dyed at the end, green eyes,  and a kind personality. She looks back at me while I'm staring at her so I look away, hoping she didn't notice, after a while of walking we end up at a red house, Tch, seems like someone likes red.... I think to myself as we enter the house. She sits at a table and looks at me as if signaling me to sit down aswell so I do just that. "I couldn't help but over hear your conversation with Jack. I think I can help you out with finding somewhere to sleep miss...?" she says, "Seeker..." I respond quietly as Ember jumps onto my lap and lays there, swishing his tail side to side. "Ah yes. I'm so sorry that I had to ask for your name, it seems that you don't like sharing." she says with a bit of formal flare to her voice, "Well now that you know my name," I say as I stroke Ember, "why don't you tell me yours and WITHOUT being formal." "Oh yes, how silly of me to not say my name! I'm Rose, the lord of this village." she replies, "And I'm not ALWAYS formal. It's just when there's someone I don't know I keep it formal just in case." "Well your in luck, I'm nothing special or important." "Don't say that! Everyones special even when they don't have an important role." she says while looking at me with pity.

 I start feeling annoyed so I look at the door and ask if I may leave, Rose nods, that's when Ember hops back onto my shoulders as I get up and leave. I walk down the pathway and head to the library. As I arrive at the library, it has a sign that says that their selling books in the plaza so I head there instead. I get there and see a big booth with 3 big shelves filled with books, I grab one that has a title that says "Weapons and Combat" and I take it to the corner of the plaza so that I could start reading it. I get to 5 page when three boys come in front of me, "Hand over your sword." one of them says as he holds out his hand, "Tch..In your dreams." I say as I continue to read the book. "Gggrrr...I'll stab you if you don't so hurry up before bloods shed." he growled. I sighed deeply and closed my book, "You chose the wrong person man..." Ember jumped down and hid under a bush, Ember then looks at me and I smirk. I threw the book up and caught it, I hit the boy against the side of his head with the back of the book, then the boy fell to the ground, "What the hell?! Get her!"
