"Get in the car."

"No."

"Yes!"

"Make me!"

She ran over to him and started to try and shove him into the car. She leaned all her weight on him, but he still didn't budge. He didn't even struggle. "Common. We both know how this is going to end." He said and grabbed the girl, tickling her. She squealed and slapped at his hands. "Stoppit." She giggled. "No really, stop!" She tried sternly, but failed. He rolled his eyes and hugged her by the waist. This was usually difficult for him, with his 6ft 2" frame, but she was wearing her nice tall heels today. The expensive shoes he bought her for her birthday last year. He really had to stretch his wallet for that one, but it was quite worth it. "So where did you want to take me anyways?" He questioned. "And I already told you this morning, I don't go anywhere unless I know where you are taking me." She pouted at him. "But I want it to be a surprise." She complained and humorously batted her eyelashes at him in a begging manner. He sighed and rolled his eyes. "Alright." He ducked into the backseat of the car as she yipped in happiness, kissed him on the cheek, and ran to the drivers seat of the car.

This was Lucifer Wyther and his love, Alicia Godwin, before the accident.

Lucifer chuckled and squinted at Alicia in the front seat. She glanced into the rear view mirror and clear her throat pointedly. With a sigh, Lucifer closed his eyes fully and leaned his head back. He really did hate surprises. His whole life revolved around careful planning. If you saw him, you'd think he was the "Let's just do whatever" kind of guy, but he really wasn't.

He had emerald green eyes and messy brown hair. He always wore his leather jacket. Most often he was wearing his work boots and a dark tee paired with jeans, but not always. Today he'd let Alicia dress him. Big mistake. He was wearing a pink dress shirt that she had call "Sexy and formal". He just thought it was girly and uncomfortable. She had made him tuck it into some black slacks but he had soon pulled it out when she wasn't looking. He did however refuse to go without his jacket. She fussed about it but gave in.

Alicia was dressed in her expensive- did I mention expensive?- purple heels, and a flattering brown dress. Her brown hair was delicately curled, and her warm hazel eyes were rimmed with eyeliner and topped with warm colored eyeshadow. She was wearing a bracelet that Lucifer had given to her. In fact, it was the one item that SHE would never part with. Although every time Lucifer teased her about it, she argued that it wasn't a dead animal and it didn't smell gross. That last part highly offended Lucifer and he soon stopped bringing up the subject. It did not smell! That's how leather is supposed to smell like! Sheesh. But the whole dead animal thing was true so that never bothered him.

"Are you sure you don't want to tell me...?" Lucifer sweetly asked once more with a smile as he looked at her up front. Alicia glanced at him through the rear view mirror and shot him done daggers with her eyes. "Ask again and everywhere we go will be a surprise." She answered just as sweetly with a mean smile. Lucifer coughed muttering "Controlling." In a joking manner. Alicia's eyes glinted with mischief and she shot back "You know it." Her eyes back on the road now. Only just realizing he had his eyes open, she added, "And close your eyes too!" Lucifer obeyed and closed his eyes again. Only to open them seconds later when they both heard the sound of police sirens up ahead and saw the flashing lights.

Alicia slowed the car as the got closer. Then she screamed and stopped the car as shots began to fire. She ducked her head down, her foot still slammed on the break, her having not had the chance to put the car in park. Lucifer quickly climbed into the front seat with her and ducked with her, holding her in his arms. "Are you okay?!" He frantically breathed out. "I- I'm fine." Alicia managed to gasp out. They could hear policemen and criminals alike yelling and shouting. A few cars were held up at the scene with them, all of the people inside ducking in much the same manner as Alicia and Lucifer were. Was this some kind of hold up?! Were they hostages now by coincidence of just driving to this very spot?!

Alicia jumped frightened as a few more shots rang out. Lucifer was holding her securely as he tried to comfort her. "Everything's going to be okay. We'll be fine." He murmured, his breath hot at her ear. People started to walk around the car and Lucifer's heart gave a jolt. Alicia wasn't looking do she didn't notice, and he didn't mention anything. He didn't need to freak her out any more. This was supposed to be a good day. What happened? Lucifer felt relief as he saw the people were the officers.

After some shouting and a few more walk-abouts, an officer tapped on the driver's window of their car making Alicia jump. He spoke through the glass, his voice muffled, "We believe the area is cleared. Please pull away inmidiately to take yourselves from potential harm's way." Alicia quickly nodded and relieved herself from her ducked position. Lucifer followed and gave Alicia a worried look as she let out a shaky breath. He decided to leave her alone after such a tragic event. They were still in potential danger.

Lucifer noticed Alicia's purse thrown on the car floor by his feet in the passenger's side, it's contents spilling out. He leaned forward to collect it when he heard shouting from out side the car. In the middle of straightening up to see what it was, a shot was fired. With a ear splitting crack, the glass in the window right beside his head exploded from the impact of a bullet. He turned in time to see a shooter poised at him, but turning to run just now, before the glass rained down on him and he was forced to turned his head. Having been leaned forward, he narrowly missed the shot.

Alicia gasped and, wincing through the glass littering him, Lucifer turned to look at her.

For a brief moment, her hand was at her neck. Then blood trickled through and she looked at her hand in shock, as if she couldn't understand the logic of bleeding. She looked at Lucifer, her eyes wide and watering with tears. Half the car was spattered with her blood. A terrible gurgling noise emitted from her mouth as blood quickly fill her throat and drowned her lungs. "NO!" Lucifer shrieked and threw himself at her. "ALICIA! ALICIA!" He was screaming her name at the top of his lungs as he held her, her blood all over him and spattered on his face from the bullet impact splatter. Blood seeped from her mouth and her eyes rolled into the back of her head. It all happened so quick that Lucifer couldn't do anything but scream and shout, and hold her tight to him in the hopes that his body heat would keep her warm and alive, as loss of blood slowly dropped her temperature. Moments later, with a bloody sputter and gurgle, she went limp in his arms forever.

Lucifer was hysterical screaming and sobbing as the remaining police swarmed the car. Backup had arrived too late, just coming to the bloody scene, and trying to find any way to help. The police were trying to get the dead girl from Lucifer's grip, but he wouldn't let anyone have her. He wouldn't let her go! She couldn't go! She can't be gone! She's just sleeping! But he was only lying to himself. He loved her! Why did that gunner have to take her from him? Finally the police had to restrain him. He kept on struggling in hysteria. Soon the ambulance arrived and they had to sedate him to calm him down.

His last thoughts before he closed his eyes and gave into the blackness of drug-induce sleep, was 'Why hadn't the bullet meant for me, hit me? Why Alicia? She deserves life more than me...'
