A songfic based on Halsey's song Drive, its fluffy and cute I guess.

They were in the car again. Mindlessly driving around in the summer night, windows rolled down and radio playing softly. Two best friends without a care in the world. A blond and a brunette ready to do anything they set their hearts to. For the blond, he wanted nothing more than to sing, and do it well. He wanted to sing in front of thousands of people and help them through their rough times as music had helped him before. The brunette, he just wanted love.
Specifically from his tall, blond-haired, blue-eyed best friend.
But that would never be a reality, he was straight. Mitch was gay, Scott was not. Straight guys don't fall in love with gay guys. Some people could turn anyone, Mitch was not one of those people. He wished he was, maybe then they'd be holding hands while doing this every night, cuddling in the backseat and kissing.
Their drives were never that adventurous. Instead, they consisted of minimal talk and when they did speak, it was never about light hearted things. Perhaps they were scared to speak, Mitch sure was. He was afraid he'd open his mouth and the words would tumble out like gymnasts. This left them quite most of the ride.
It disgusted him sometimes, how he was so satisfied with his sexuality and relationships. His parents supported him and his friends were amazing. He didn't deserve happiness, he was lucky. Sick and full of pride.
He looked over to Scott, watching the lukewarm air blow his golden hair almost perfectly. His crystal blue eyes were focused mainly on the road, but also the stars overhead. Somehow, the moonlight accentuated his features in a way that made Mitch almost visibly melt.
Stop that Mitch.
"I know I'm beautiful Mitch, but what's with the staring?" Scott questioned with a smile.
"Sorry, just thinking," he replied and turned his gaze to the night sky above him. The stars looked stunning and perfectly visible from the meadows they were passing through. "We should lay on the roof and stargaze," He suggested.
He saw the blond nod out of the corner of his eye, and the car pulled over into the grass slightly. The two got out and Scott opened the trunk to grab a fluffy blanket to drape over the roof. Once the blanket was laid down, they climbed onto the top of the car and spread out together. Everything felt beautiful, it was as if Mitch could feel the stars twinkling on his skin and the beauty radiating off of the boy next to him. He turned his head to see the blond staring at the sky, his eyes resembled the galaxy in the lighting.
The thing about Scott was he had the personality of a radiant summer day when the sun shone bright, and the looks of the moon and stars when they glimmered at night. He was the sun, the moon, and all the stars in the sky at the same time.
And Mitch was hopelessly in love with him.
He wanted to lunge forward and press his lips against Scott's with more passion than he could ever have in his lifetime. He wanted to hold his hand and feel loved by him. He wanted his pale lips against his neck, jaw, collarbones, anywhere. But he couldn't have any of it.
"Mitchy?" Scott asked, looking over the the brunette, who looked equally beautiful under the night sky.
"Yes Scott?"
He hesitated for a moment, a blush spread across his cheeks and he was thankful for the darkness hiding it. Breathe, Scott.
"Do you... do you think it would kill you if we, kissed?"
Mitch was silent, speechless from the question. Without a second thought, he did exactly what he had been wanting to do. He grabbed Scott's face and pressed their lips together firmly. This startled Scott but he quickly relaxed and began to kiss back, his hands going to rest on his best friend's waist.
Best friend. That didn't feel right. He didn't want them to be friends, he wanted more.
He forced himself out of his thoughts to focus on the boy in front of him who was currently kissing him. It felt like a dream come true. His mind was blown at how soft Mitch's lips were, and how gentle his hands were on his cheeks. It was bliss.
When they finally broke apart, Scott spoke first, "So, yeah, I'm kinda gay and I may be in love with you, if that wasn't clear yet."
"Lucky for you, I might just be in love with you too." Mitch stated with a smile.
"You know, I think I'm gonna need a few more kisses to really know. I don't wanna rush into anything unless I'm absolutely sure," Scott teased.
They both giggled, the brunette tangling his fingers in the blond's golden locks. "Come here you dork, let me kiss you."
And from then on, all they did was drive, but this time with a lot more kissing.
