I stood in my room looking out the window as I watched them carrying boxes in and out of the house. I never understood why people kept moving in here with all the uh history. But in a strange way, I do. The house kinda calls to you, like its trying to pull you into its blood soaked walls. But nobody ever realizes it until its soaked in their own blood. And don't get me wrong, I like to watch the new people and all, but man is it getting crowded in here. That's why I mostly stay in my room, they leave me alone when im in here. Footsteps on the staircase interrupted my thoughts. They were soft, small steps, coming closer to the door. Then a loud thud happened right outside the door, shaking the floor. Seconds later the door flew open and a girl stood on the other end of it with a large box at her feet. The box mostly contained cd's, books, and a picture of a young girl. The girl kicked the box into the room and squealed as she grabbed her foot.

"Uhh!" She screeched. " I hate it. I hate it. I hate her. I hate him. I hate it here." She mumbled as she made her way to the big bed in the middle of the room still holding her foot, managing to only stumble a few times. She then picked up a small bag out of the box and carried it into the adjacent bathroom. She looked in the rather large mirror that hung above the sink. She pulled off her black beanie and stared at herself for several minutes. In that time several different expressions crossed her face, indicating her thoughts changing. But my mind was rapped around one. How beautiful she was. I could tell she didn't agree as she reached into the bag and pulled out a razor blade. She sat on the bathtub ledge as she pulled her sweater sleeve up so it crunched at the elbow. Her face ran threw new expressions as she pulled the blade across her pale skin.

"You're doing it wrong, if you're trying to kill yourself you cut vertically, they cant stich that up." I said flatly as I stood in the doorway.

"Who are you and how did you get in here?" she said with confusion.

"And if you're trying to kill yourself you may try locking the door." I said with a smirk. I turned from her and went to sit on the bed. She followed me as I hoped she would. She held a towel to her arm as she spoke.

"Thanks for the tip whatever your name is." The sarcasm in her voice was strangely warming.

"Tate. My names Tate."

"Tate." My name rolled off her tongue as if it were honey, instead of the poison that it was.

"And you are." I said back.

"I'm Violet." She answered.

"Tate what are you doing here?" Ben interrupted as he burst through the doorway.

"I got here early and decided to explore." I answered him.

"Early for what?" Violet said with confusion. I didn't want to tell her I was one of her dads crazed patients but I couldn't think of anything else to explain why I would be there.

"My appointment." I shrugged. A shade of disappointment swept over her face but she quickly pushed it away so I wouldn't notice. Too late, I thought.

"Which doesn't start for four more hours." Ben said sounding annoyed. I knew I had several hours till I had to meet with him and thought I probably just should have remained unseen. But I couldn't resist not talking to Violet for four more hours.

"You should probably come back later, Tate." He said smoother this time with less annoyance.

"He can stay with me!" Violet said with a spark of excitement and then added " I mean if you want to." sounding more relaxed and bored with the whole conversation.

"I'd love to." I said smiling.

"Fine." Ben said as he walked out of the room. As he left she turned to me and came to sit on the bed next to me, as she did her shoulder brushed mine and a rush of heat flooded over me.

"Are you okay?" She said looking at my face, which had turned a light red.

"Yeah im fine, are you okay?" I said back.

"Yeah im good, other than having to move half way across the country, only for my parents to continue to dislike each other. The only upside is that this house is freaking beautiful." She said with a small smile towards the end.

"Yeah the house is pretty cool." We sat there for several minutes just looking around the room and strangely enough, it wasn't awkward at all.

"Im going to read some, you wanna book?" She finally said breaking the silence.

"Got anything about birds?" I said as I laid my back on the bed. She looked threw her box on the floor a little until she found a big book and threw it at me.

"Heads up." She said as the book flew onto my lap. I just looked at it sitting on my lap. I had already read this book many times before and found it funny that she had it.

"I didn't have you pinned as a nature book type girl." I said mockingly.

"Then why'd you ask for the book in the first place if you didn't think I would have it." She said back plainly. This made me think.

"Are you gonna read too?" I said changing the subject. She answered by plopping down on the pillow next to me and pulling a book up to her nose. We just laid there, shoulder to shoulder reading until it was time for my appointment.

"Bye." I said as I got up to leave.

"Bye." She said back not letting her eyes leave her book.

"Can I come back tomorrow?"

"Sure." She said as she pulled the book down letting her eyes watch as I left.
