"So how'd it go?" Tessa asked.
"Close." I smiled. "We had to go. Alana came in."
"Oh. " She slammed her shoulder on the girls' bathroom door. I walked to the mirrior and started fixing my make-up. "Emergency, Naomi incoming." Tessa said. I stopped and listened. I heard Naomi's voice. We ran into the stalls.
"So what're are you going to do, now that Luke is taken?" Naomi's friend asked.
Naomi sighed. "It might take some heart crushing, but he'll come around."
"What about his girlfriend? Who is she, anyways? All people know is that he has one." The girl said.
There was a clang of make-up kits, "I'm pretty sure she won't be a problem. There are so many ways to make her look bad." Naomi said confidently. "I just have two weeks until the spring formal to make it happen. I'm going to be the girl on Luke's arm, not this new one."
Then I heard the door shut. I pushed the stall open. "Wow, she sees you as a threat." Tessa squeaked.
I smiled.

I opened my locker up. A note drifted to the ground.
"Meet me on the roof, last period.
~Luke"
I probably grinned so big. Last period was now. I started walking. But something stopped. What I heard from Naomi. Could this be her messing with me? It couldn't possibly be.
I shook my head and started walking again. I got to the top of the stairs before the doubt hit me again. Am I sure about this?
"Luke," I called out. I stepped onto the roof. I looked around. "Luke?"
The silence was getting at me, I started to turn around. Someone wrapped their arms around my waist and pulled me back onto the roof. The person brought me to the edge. "I'm right here." Luke's voice said.
I faced him. "Hi." I put my arms around his neck. "How's it going?"
He shrugged. "Well, I really like this girl."
"Mmhmm." I sounded.
"And I'm thinking of asking her to spring formal."
I nodded my head. "She's really lucky. She'll probably say yes to the great Luke Hayes."
His eyes strayed. "I guess. Am I really that great?" He said with joking arrogance.
"You might be a little less. Tell me about this girl." I laughed.
"Okay." He said, chuckling, "She is amazing. She helped her little sister and mine be friends again. She is in a band with her five best friends. She is also beautiful and brilliant. I've know her for like forever. She has light brown hair and brown eyes that I always get lost in. Her smile is indescribable."
I was speechless. He took something from behind him. A rose, he held it out to me. "Sydney Taylor, will you go to the spring formal with me?"
"Hmm, old fashion way of asking." I stalled. "I love roses..." I took a look at him, he was waiting. His brown eyes asking for an answer. "Yes." I finally answered.
I gave him a hug. "Now that that is outta of the way." He continued. "How about a real date?"
I answered with a smile. But as we left the roof, holding hands, Naomi's words rang in my head, "There are so many ways to make her look bad. I'm going to be the girl on Luke's arm, not this new one."
