Lauren's breath stopped as she stared into the brunette's eyes. She immediately felt anger boiling up in the pit of her stomach. Who would do that to someone? Especially Camila, she deserved so much more and she wanted this man to pay. Her fists were clenching at her sides as she grabbed her phone to type furiously at the screen.

What is his name? The man who did this to you, what is his name?

"It's okay, Lo, it was a long time ago," Camila swiped at a tear and took Lauren's hand in her own and uncurled them, lacing their fingers together as cars speed by on the busy Miami street.

Lauren looked at their hands and Camila's sad smile and her heart broke. Questions were running rampant through her active mind. Did Camila have the baby? If so, where was it now? There was so much she wanted to say. She wished more than anything that she would've known the brown eyed girl back then. There isn't a thing she wouldn't have done to protect her.

Are you okay?

Camila opened her mouth to continue, unable to answer the older girl's question without breaking down and the whole story hadn't been told yet. "After that, I let myself be used by anyone who asked. He told me-" she drew in a breath to steady herself and Lauren took the opportunity to pull the girl into her lap on the curbside. The raven haired girl wiped at a few stray tears and gave the girl in her arms a reassuring smile. Camila exhaled deeply before speaking again, preparing herself to fully open up to the green eyed girl, "He told me that I was nothing. He said that...he said that my only purpose was to please him, to serve him. I felt worthless. I feel worthless. I don't know if that feeling will ever really go away."

Lauren would have given anything to be able to speak, to be able to reassure Camila that she was so much more. She was everything. Because typing words on a screen seemed to awfully understate the emotion behind their purpose, Lauren did the only other thing she could think of. Untangling their hands, she cupped Camila's teary eyed face with both hands and leaned in. Pressing their lips together, Lauren put everything she had into the kiss. Every unsaid word, every emotion felt, it all poured out of her soul and into Camila's smile as they kissed under the streetlights.

Disconnecting their lips and pressing their foreheads together, both girls let out a breath. Camila was the first to speak, "Wow."

Lauren, still feeling the emotion bubbling up inside of her, made a quick but thoroughly overthought decision. She scrambled up from her spot and ran over towards one of the tables outside of the restaurant.

Camila, very confused, stood up but remained in her spot, watching her friend with worried eyes. Maybe she had said too much. The very thought terrified her. She hadn't known Lauren for very long, but she already couldn't imagine a life without her in it. Her brown eyes watched as Lauren grabbed a flower from one of the vases on an occupied table, offering a small apology to the people sitting there, and quickly made her way over to the sign in front of the restaurant advertising the night's specials, Erasing the colorful chalk with the sleeve of the sweater her mom had brought to the hospital for her, she hurriedly scribbled something down. Taking a deep breath, her nerves were kicking in, she carried the sign over towards Camila and turned it around to face her. Taking hold of one of Camila's hand and getting down on one knee with the flower in her free fist, she scanned the brown eyed girl's features as she read over the words.

Camz, will you be my girlfriend?

Camila nearly fainted. Her heart rate skyrocketed and her eyes flew over to the raven haired girl who was patiently waiting for a response with a nervous grin on her face. She studied the girl on her knee and smiled, grateful to have met her.

"I would love to be," Camila spoke, beaming down at the girl.

Lauren shot up and wrapped Camila in a tight hug. Engulfed in the girl's scent, a mix of vanilla and something that can only be described as uniquely Camila, she let herself feel real happiness for the first time since the accident.
