A Shadowers Protection

     "Rose!" I shouted to see if she was home yet. Im going to kill her! Well, not really, i cant do that. Im a Shadower, i live to protect my anchor, aka Rose. She is a special breed of vampire, a rare one. Shes basically the same, except her blood is different... That and, you know, she can see in the dark, not fly, but glide in the air, and possible other things. Bad part, her type of vampire is being hunted.

     A Shadower is a born protector, and raised by gods until they are ready to be assigned an anchor. Our body naturally changes races to whichever one to protect the anchor. For example, if the anchor is far away in danger, we would most likely change to vampire to get there faster. If we needed to hide there's a good chance we would change into a witch or fae to turn invisible and be able to change our anchor to.

     At night, i visit with Artemis to give her updates, for she is the one who created vampires and werewolfs, if the anchor were another breed, the we would report to a different god.

     One of the downfalls of being a Shadower, i cant tell when i change, and i cant choose what to change into. Sucks right?

     I hear the door open, bringing me out of my thoughts. I run to the front door of the apartment to see Rose trying to sneak in.

     "Where have you been?" I ask her. She was supposed to be home an hour ago.

     "I was... out." She replied vaguely. I sighed.

     "Rosalina don't make me prod around." I said. Either she tells me or i will just prod around in her thoughts until i can get the info. Horrible, but necessary.

     "Ok ok. I wanted to meet the coven... i know i should have waited but i couldn't." She said. We have to move a lot, and this place seems safe, but to blend in we need to join the vampire coven.

     "You could've just asked." I said turning around and walking to my bedroom. But i stopped in the doorway.

     "Eleven o'clock, lights out. We have to rise early tomorrow." I said. I could hear her sigh.

     I sat on the bed and began to meditate. I imagined going to Artemis, and when i opened my eyes, i was there.

     "Hello Jacelynn, how are you?" Artemis asked.

    "Good, but we have more important matters than my well being." I said, sitting down. Artemis rolled her eyes and sat down next to me.

     "Your well being is important. But let me guess. Your talking about Rosalina  again." She stated.

     "Right. She's being more rebellious, and i am afraid i cannot control her. " i said. She laughed.

      "Of course you can. Oh! That reminds me." She said holding out her hand. Inside was a necklace, with a red crystal, with delicate silver holding it in place. It was beautiful.

     "What is it?" I asked.

     "It is a charm. It will make you stay a vampire as long as you wear it, so you can blend in with the coven." She said.

     "T-thank you." I said. I leaned in to give her a hug. While i was doing that she put the necklace on.

     "I-" i was cut off with a surge of adrenalin, i knew that meant Rose was in trouble. I didn't even say goodbye before i was back in my bedroom. But not for long, i raced to Roses bedroom. The window was open and she was in her bed in a ball.

     "What happened!" I shouted. She looked up, her face stained with tears.

     "There was someone here." She said.

     After checking, and checking again, whoever it was, was gone by now. I let Rose sleep, before i fell into a sleep myself.
