•Heavens Point of View

I stood up on my tippy toes, reaching for a cup my mother just so happened to put up on the highest shelf she could find. I was so close to having it, but of course I couldn't get it. I tugged my over sized t shirt down a little, trying one more time to reach it with a small jump, but failed. Grabbing onto the lower part of the cabinet, I hoisted myself onto the counter and grabbed it, placing the glass in between my teeth and trying to figure out how to get back down.

"You need help with that?" Someone said from behind me.

I twisted around and freaked when I seen a guy leaning against the kitchen door frame staring at me with an amused expression on his face. I pulled my shirt back down a little bit and took the glass out of my mouth.

"Actually, no, but you can tell me what you're doing in my house," I replied, slightly embarrassed that he seen me like this.

He straightened up and gave me a quizzical look before raising his eyebrow and saying," You mean, what I'm doing in our house?"

"Our house?" I moved and my knee slid off the edge of the counter, causing me to grab onto the refrigerator and drop the glass in my hand.

I let out a slow mumble of curses when I heard the glass shatter, and the guy slowly made his way over to me and held out his hand.

"Here, let me help you down."

"No thank you, I can get down by myself just fine."

"Sweetheart, I don't know if you know this or not but there is glass all over the ground in front of you. If you jump down, your feet are going to get all cut up. And we don't want that, do we?"

I huffed out in annoyance, and grabbed onto the guys hand. He placed my hand on his shoulder and made the other do the same before grabbing onto my waist and picking me up. Embarrassingly, I held onto him like my life depended on it.

After he sat me down where there was no glass, we had a small stare down before I quickly turned around and screamed my moms name. She ran down the stairs, stopping and looking at me wild eyed before realizing nothing was actually wrong.

"What is it darling?" She asked in the sweetest voice that she could muster.

"Do you mind telling me what's going on here because this guy claims he lives here too," I said, my stubbornness showing just a little. I didn't want anyone else here. It's just been me and mom for twelve years. Nobody else. And last time I checked, I didn't want anyone else here. No matter if the guy was hot.

"You haven't told her yet?" A male said from the living room.

I whipped my head towards his voice so fast my neck popped. A middle aged man with small spots of grey in his black hair stepped into view. His grey shirt was slightly wrinkled, and in all honesty he looked a little mean.

I turned back to my mom and raised an eyebrow. She gave me a small smile, the one you give someone when you're trying to explain something without getting in trouble.

"Well sweetheart, you see, right now I cant really afford the rent all by myself. So Mr. Willborn and his son are going to be staying with us for a while. Consider it like room mates. Mr. Willborn pays for half of the rent and in return him and his son live here with us."

I just stared at her, before taking a deep breath in and saying," I told you that I could get a job and help you."

"You're sixteen. I'm not gonna let you do that. You shouldn't have to worry about stuff like this while you're young."
