"a wife of a noble character who can find? she is worth more than rubies. her husband has full faith and confidence and lacks nothing of value."
-- proverbs 31: 10-11
The sun shined brightly in the morning sky, the cool soft breeze danced through the wheat fields, silence whispered over the hills. Under the shade of a single tree; two people, a fair-skinned man with dark hair, and a white brunette woman, laid there watching the sun rays bursting through the leaves. The man turned to the woman smiling, "I remember the first time I saw you, it was just you and me, everything turned into nothing... ha, hear me going off again," he smirked. Facing him she smiled, "no! no! no! don't stop, I like hearing it."
The man smiled again, "Diana, I will always love you, now and forever, I want to make a better new story with you, come with me, let us go somewhere far from this.... The town, from your parents.... Diana, will you marry me and see the world with me?" asked the man. She paused then tears started rolling down her face, "yeah! Yeah! I mean yes! yes!" she said while nodding her head, "yes Fidel, I will marry you."
"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Are you okay?" her eyes opened the dream, standing in front of her at the side of the chair was a little girl holding a blanket, "yes sweetie, mommy is alright," she smiled reassuringly. "then why were you crying mom?" said her son standing from kitchen looking at her angrily, "I told you.... dad left us... he left you, me and Cindy," he said trying to hold back tears, "stop saying that," shouted the little girl, "Daddy said he would soon come back, and I believe him, I know daddy is coming, I now he is, I know he is, I know he is, am I right, mommy?" Cindy said looking up at her mother smiling. Diana hesitated, "y-yes, sweetie, daddy is coming home."
A knock came from the door, "I'll get it," said the boy, "Daddy!!!" shouted the little girl. Diana got up in anticipation, "no, it's the mailman, jeez didn't I tell you he's not coming back?" said the boy. "here is some mail for you guys, wow! tell your mom she did a wonderful job with those flowers around the fence okay, have a good day now" said the mailman as he walked off.
The boy gave the mail to his mother and walked away, Cindy ran off playing with her blanket. Diana stood there; her eyes welled with tears "how could you just leave? I thought it was you and me forever," she to herself as she fell to her knees crying, all the mail fell and scattered around on the wooden floor. looking around on the scattered mail, she tilted her head looking at a brown envelope; labeled "to my wife from Fidel." She grabbed the mail, quickly opening it.
"My dear loving wife, I am really sorry for putting you through so much pain and sadness, a long time ago I made a deal with someone and we are planning to go somewhere far away, I don't know if I will ever make it back. I am really sorry; I think I'm going to break my promise about seeing the world with you, Diana I will always love you. Tell my children that I died, it's better than them knowing that their father left them. Please go tell my aunt I love her too. Thank you. Goodbye, my love."
She knelt there on the ground silently, the laughter of her daughter could be heard coming from the backyard and the sounds of plates being washed from the kitchen from her son. "children! We are going to see your grand aunt and uncle, Danny! Go get your sister and give her a bath okay, I'm going to get your things ready," she said, "ok mom, Cindy! Come take a bath," shouted the boy. "Never! Baths are the enemy and I will never be caught by the enemy or his minions," shouted Cindy. Danny dried his hands on the apron and put it on the counter, "Oh you think you can't be caught huh!? We will get you and you will take a bath, mu hahaha!!!" he started to chase her around the house, "nooo nooo! Blanky save me, the evil minion is going to get me hahaha!"
They walked down a long path leading to a house, dancing around Cindy said, "Mommy I love coming to Grand auntie's farms, it's always so much fun helping grand uncle with the horses," "Oh, really!" replied Diana, "yeah! but Danny don't like it because he always gets the field work and helps grand auntie with the farming," she continued. "yeah! Whatever," scoffed Danny. They came up to a dark wooden door and just right about when Cindy was going to knock, the door swung opened, "my grandbabies!" shouted their grand-aunt. "ah! Danny my boy, looking like your father every day," said their grand uncle from behind their aunt; "well, I don't want to be like him," he replied. "oh! Come on in, the sun is hot as it is," said their aunt. They walked in the house, and the grand uncle turned to Danny and knelt down to him, "why would you say that about your father? Boy," he asked, angrily Danny replied, "he left us."
"He left, you say? Huh! Your father did love to travel, I remember when him and your mother, young crazy kids, ran off and got married and to hide away from their parents they traveled so far to come here, they stayed for a long time, until you were born," he continued, "your father love your mother so much, to point where could have gone to jail for kidnapping another man's wife or wife to be, he wouldn't leave your mother even if the world was on fire, he would have been the one to watch shield from the flames, my boys, you should believe in you father more." Everyone else walked off into the other room talking, "if he loved her so much, why did he leave and made her cry every night and put her through so much pain and made her worry and leave Cindy his daughter and me, why did...." Tears burst out his eyes. His uncle smile, "I see, your sad because you felt like he abandoned you, you know at a time like this you should try to protect your sister, this world has not corrupt her pure sight of things and blinded it as it did you and your mother, he will come back, I promise," his uncle hugged him.
Back in the other room, where Cindy and Diana were with their aunt. The aunt told Cindy that she could go outside and play with the dogs, then she looked at Diana, "I'm glad you came, he told us you will," she said. "who?" asked Diana, "who else? Fidel!" her aunt replied. "what did he say?" Diana pleaded. "sigh! Honey you should go find him, he is waiting on you." Said the aunt, "what?!" Diana said confused, "why do you think he told you to come here? Jeez okay, he told us that he is going west and Diana would come here soon, we were supposed to tell you that, you were supposed to go west and try to find him, we're taking the kids okay," she smile, "I think you should go now and don't worry about the kids they are safe with us," she started to push Diana to the side door to where neither Cindy nor Danny could see them. "Go! Go! Go! Now hurry up and catch up to him."
She turned around and started to run off, tears filled her eyes and she started to smile, over and over again she told herself, "I will find you! I will find you! I will find you!"
