I was meeting with Sally after I went uptown to check with Chet. I had met Chet ages ago when I was still up north. I don't remember how we got together as I am missing a whole lot of time and memories from then. Chet called me his little sister a whole lot, although we look nothing alike, he's probably eight or nine years older than me, maybe more. Brunette to my ginger, and brown eyes to my blue. But as a 'family' it was easier to get into soup kitchens and shelters. We lasted probably about a year as I learned the ropes. Though we quit hanging out regularly I could always go to him for an odd job once in a while or to get some help with something not quite legal, like how he was going to get me some fake ID's. The crazy bastard.
I met up downtown near his alley. He's really gone down hill these last few years, guess he finally got hooked on too much stuff and now is always looking to score. He told me that as a 'big girl' at 15 I can pay with something other than money. He actually brought in his dealer for our meet so I could help him out. After I refuse he raised the price for my papers. I had enough cash for the birth certificate and the SIN card with me and now Chet was refusing to give me the info.
I just couldn't believe the whole thing. I turned to his dealer and asked if he was the one who could get the papers. I just turned my back and dealt with the bald guy who could of been a professional footballer he was so big. He said he was promised a payment on debts owed. His voice so deep it made my bones shake. I was happy to get out of there. Asked for a new deal with him, info on how to get ahold of the ID girl. Now I have her contact info and am short extra money. I don't think I am going to be missing Chet though. Being a girl sucks
...
I run up the drive to Sally's place and ring the bell three times.
"Hey Jasmine, whoa." She leaps aside as I push past her and chuck my shoes to the side and start rushing up the stairs.
"Bathroom, sorry." Yep being a girl sucks. A minute later and I hear a knock on the door.
"Jaz." calls Sally, "Underwear?"
"Yes please." I cry. Trying to salvage my own.
She hands it through the door. "How do you not know when its coming up? I told you my App works great, and the body has a few different ways to tell ya." I open the door to see Sally with her hands on her hips and an exasperated expression on her face.
"I am still irregular, my last one was almost two months ago. And I don't have a fancy phone to app my body onto. Yeah." As I come out of the bathroom throwing the damage into the laundry basket. Hoping she will just let this drop. Its so crazy embarrassing, yet I am happy it doesn't happen too often as its probably the hardest thing about not having a proper bathroom on a regular basis.
"Shopping?!!" She does let it go, man she is awesome.
I sigh, looking down and sad. Sallys' face freezes and starts to fall. I smile mischievously up at her through my lashes, "I so need new shoes."
This has Sallys' screeching, she literally is jumping in the hallway outside the bathroom, she loves shopping, loves taking me. I just don't get it, but I guess I missed the whole girl loves shopping gene. I am not even good at helping her, she already looks good in most everything. Sally has great taste in clothes and for some reason likes dressing me up too.
My happiness crashes pretty quickly when a bang is heard on the other side of a closed door.
"Josh got home so late last night from his date, think I woke hime up." Sally laughs. Not some giggling screeching girl thing she was doing a second ago, but a cute chuckle. I don't feel in the laughing mood though as his door opens a crack. His face is still in that half asleep squished look and he is only wearing a pair of sweats. His bronze chest could put any girls heart palpitating, but I still remember him a few years ago in braces and crazy acne, bugging his little sister and her friend. He seemed about to berate his sister for waking him up when he spots me behind her. Sally has her hands on her hips in front of me. Total amazon pose, reminding me of myself last night. His one second hesitation cost him the first round with his sister too.
