Hey, my name is Aurora. Today is November 19th, 2021. I'm 16 years old and I'm a junior at Redwood High. This is some of the last moments I have before I disappear into the abyss of my mind and body. I figured that during this, I would share my story. Lets start at the beginning...
*Flashback to Thursday, March 1st, 2019*
Aurora
-Texts between Violet and Aurora-
Aurora: "Hey what are you doing tonight?" -1:36 A.M.
Violet: "Um, nothing? It's a school night. Not to mention, it's 1 in the morning. Why are you still up?" -1:38 A.M.
Aurora: "Oh right. Ha ha, I guess I forgot... anyways um could I possibly come over? Or you come over here?" -1:38 A.M.
Violet: "*sigh* Alright, but you have to promise that you will tell me what's going on okay?" -1:42 A.M.
Aurora: "Yeah, of course. I promise." -1:45 A.M.
Violet: "Well, I'll be there in five minutes. See you then." -1:48 A.M.
Aurora: "Okay, just walk through the door when you are here, it's unlocked by the way." -1:48 A.M.
(Fast forward to 1:55 A.M)
Aurora
Sitting on my bed, I hear the front door open. I get up and head downstairs to meet up with Violet, my best friend. When I reach downstairs we both embrace each other in a hug. After we both push away she softly puts her hands on my shoulders and gives me a worried look. I hesitate for a second, thinking she knows what's up.
"So, why are you up when it's 1 in the morning? You are usually an early sleeper," Violet asked. I looked at her with my mouth open, but with no words coming out.
"I-I don't know I guess I just...got a sudden burst of energy?" I said with my voice subtly shaking in the middle of the sentence. She must have noticed because she raised one eyebrow and gave me a look that told me she knew I was lying.
"Aurora, I did not come to your house at 1 in the morning for you to tell me a lie. Now tell me what's really going on." She said.
I hesitate for a moment. Worry fills the empty spot where emotion is supposed to be on my face.
"I um... I... I kept hearing noises... like... laughing, crying, banging, knocking, and breathing," I said nervously, "They sounded like they belonged to... a little girl... and I am too scared to sleep."
She's silent for a little while looking at the ceiling, off in her own world, debating what she should do about this situation. Finally, she looks at me and sighs.
"Okay, just to assure you that you are safe, I'm going to sleepover at your house for the rest of the night. Okay?" she asks.
"But... what about your parents? Aren't you gonna get in trouble for sneaking over to my house without telling them?" I say, confused about how she is going to handle the situation. I would be worried by my mom, but she's usually okay with someone sleeping over, even on a school night.
"Don't worry about my parents. I can handle them, besides, do you really think this is my first time doing this?" she says, letting out a small laugh at the end. But she was right, this wasn't the first time she had done this.
"Okay, okay. You have a point. Well, lets head up to my bedroom before my parents wake up and catch us." I suggest. She nods and we start to walk upstairs. Violet and I climb into my bed, squeezing next to each other, making sure neither of us is too cramped.
