Chapter 1
I’ve been here for about a week now, school was about start, and I’m scared. I didn’t know what to expect at this school. All day long, I kept thinking about how I might not make any friends and that the other girls in the school will probably bully me or even, worse I could be the only person with awesome music taste. It’s sad that these are my biggest fears when it comes to school, I’m pathetic and I know it.
Next Day
It was the first day and I was a nervous wreck. I got up an hour earlier, took a shower, picked out a blink-182 tank, a black skirt and black beanie because it went well with my outfit. I went down stairs and put on my black high top converse. “Honey breakfast is ready and apparently so are you,” she said shocked to see me ready before 7:30. “Yeah I got up early, so what’s for breakfast?” I asked hoping she would say pancakes and bacon. “Pancakes and bacon, your favorite,” she replied, placing a plate full in front of me. “Yay,” I said shoving food in my mouth. I looked at the time and saw that it was time to go if I was going to walk to school. The walk there was nice and peaceful, but when I saw the school and how many people actually went to Dulaney High School, I was ready to turn around and walk home until this gorgeous guy walked past me with the most amazing smile. It gave me the courage to walk in and actually go to my classes to see if he was in any of them. As I got into the school, I hurried to find my locker and when I did he was there, right next to locker and I opened it trying to act like he wasn’t there until I heard him cough to get my attention. “Hey you must be new here,” he said with a big smile on his face. “Uh, yeah,” I replied not looking at him. He ripped my schedule out of my hands, looking at with a goofy smile on his face this time. “So, Christina I guess I’ll be seeing you all day every day since we have every class together,” he chuckled out. “My name is Chris and what’s so funny about that,” I said with a little attitude towards him for calling me Christina. “Oh, sorry I didn’t mean to make you mad by calling you that and by the way I’m Alex,” he said with a charming smile that I bet a million buck makes every girl melt into his arms, what a player. I closed my locker and finally facing him, I see his smile widen at me. “Oh my fucking god, I love that band,” he said reminding me that I’m wearing a blink tank. “Wait you love blink too,” I said smiling at the man in front of me. “Yeah, they rock,” he said with a little chuckle. My smile started to decrease when a girl came and wrapped her arms around him. Honestly, I’ll admit I did get a bit jealous and I don’t know why, it’s not like I could have formed a crush a guy I just met even though he was extremely hot. “Hey babe,” was the first words to leave her mouth and all I could do was pick up my bag from the floor in front of me and walk away. ‘Babe’ I thought to myself, ‘So that means they’re dating and I have no shot with him now.’ I kept thinking to myself until I somehow reached my first class, English. I walked in and took a seat in the back corner of the class. “Hey,” a familiar voice said breaking me out of trans. I turned my head to that it was Alex who was now taking the seat next to mine. “Oh, hey,” I replied. “I’m sorry about earlier, sometimes Lisa just comes out of nowhere,” he said hoping I would understand. “No problem, your girlfriend just wants to spend every minute of her life with you and it’s not like I matter to anyone anyways, I’m the new girl remember,” I said with a reassuring smile on my face. “Hey that’s not true you do matter, at least to me you do and I don’t want to hear you say you don’t matter because you do, okay,” he said with face turning a bit pink. “Whatever,” I replied, looking away from and putting my ear buds in my ears, playing every blink song I have on my iPod. After about 10 minutes I felt someone tap my shoulder, when I looked it was Alex again. I took out an ear bud to hear what he had to say. “What?” I whispered. “Nothing I just wanted to see your beautiful dark eyes,” he said making me confused. He is truly a player. “Dude don’t say that when you have a girlfriend, so not cool,” I whispered hopefully making him feel guilty. “Sorry, I have to be honest or then girls like you find me to be a total dick and I don’t want that,” he whisper back making me regret talking to him. “Honestly if you have a girlfriend you shouldn’t use flirty comments like that or girls with think you like them even when you don’t,” I whispered back not caring about my attitude. “Sorry about the flirty way I said it, but it’s true you have really pretty eyes, they’re nice and dark like pools of chocolate,” he said smiling at me. ‘What a weirdo, guys never talked or even looked at me until today and it made me happy now I only wish I could tell him he has a nice smile but that would be weird,’ I thought to myself. ‘Why did he have to be so hot and why did he have to have a girlfriend, what did she have that I didn’t have except Alex. She was pretty flat chested and she had like no ass, she honestly looked like some bones with flesh on it. Nothing else,’ I kept thinking to myself until the bell rang for us to leave this class and go to the next one. I ran out the door and down the hall to where my math class was and I ran in and sat in the back corner avoiding Alex, when a tall lanky boy with skunk colored hair walked in and was coming toward the seat next to me. After him came Alex and Lisa his girlfriend and the worst of it all, they sat in front of me and the lanky boy next to me. “Hey,” the boy said, “I’m Jack.” “Hey, I’m Chris,” I replied to him with a smile on my face. “Nice to meet you, can I ask you something?” he said with a shy smile. “Uh sure, why not,” I replied with a wide eyes. “Uh, well it might sound weird but do you have a boyfriend?” he asked looking down at his shoes. “Jack, she probably has a boyfriend, just look at her she’s hot,” Alex said making the boy look depressed. “Well that was mean and Jack no I don’t have a boyfriend,” I said with a reassuring smile. “You don’t,” they both yelled in unison. “Yeah I don’t have a boyfriend and I’ll probably never will,” I replied looking down at my desk. “Why do say that?” Jack said putting a hand on my shoulder. “At my old school everyone made fun of me and I didn’t have any friends, I was shoved into walls and called an emo freak,” I replied with tears building up in my eyes. “Really, but you’re hot and you look as if you have never cut yourself once,” Alex said looking at me with empathy filled eyes. “I don’t cut myself that’s why it never made sense to me,” I said wiping away my tears. Alex got up from his sit, got on his knees beside my seat, and pulled me into his embrace. I was shocked but after a second, I found myself wrapping my arms around him returning the embrace. I looked to see if anyone was watching only to see Lisa giving me the dirtiest look I have ever seen and I rapidly pushed Alex away only to see shock written all over his face. I got up and ran out of the class, to the nearest bathroom to hide. I heard foot steps come in mere seconds after me. “Oh Chris, I know you’re here,” a voice said. It sounded like Lisa, oh great let the bullying begin. I walked out seeing her looking at her self in the mirror. “Oh, there you are, I just wanted to ask you something,” she said pushing me against the wall. “Do you like Alex because you can’t have him and I hope you know that,” she said throwing me against the mirror making me shatter it, at this point, I was done and I was bleeding. “You should get cleaned up,” she said walking out as the bell rang. I ran out with the blood dripping down my arms, neck and back. Without knowing it I ran past Alex and Jack, who saw me running out of the school. I heard someone screaming from behind me as I ran, but I stop and fall to the ground crying. “Chris what happened?” I heard from behind me. “Chris look at me what happened, why are you covered in blood?” they asked walking in front of me to my face. “Come on, get up lets get you cleaned up, we’ll go to my house,” he said lifting me on to his back and grabbing my back. “Who did this to you, its not like you have any enemies here so I don’t get why this happened to you,” he said carrying me down some random streets to his house. “Alex you shouldn’t be doing this,” I finally said. “Why not?” he asked with a hint of confusion in his voice. “Lisa will be pissed again and I don’t need her shoving me into another school mirror,” I replied. “Wait, Lisa did this to you, why?” he asked in astonishment. “She hated the fact that you hugged me and so she was jealous,” I replied while snuggling into the back of his neck. “What a fucking bitch, Lisa had no right to lay a hand on you, when you did nothing wrong,” he said putting me down so he could get his keys and unlock the door. “Come on in,” he said letting me into the house.
