I hopped off the bus, cheerfully singing a song in my head. Glancing over my shoulder I waved goodbye to my bus driver greatful that she didn't notice me trip over my own feet." See ya' Sara!" My friend Kassandra called from the bus window. I smiled back at her and gave a returning wave. I turned my back to the bus as I heard the air release from the breaks. My little brother Arin followed behind me, muttering about how his third grade teacher gave him too much homework. I rolled my eyes listening to him as I kicked the rocks at my feet.

I opened the door to my house, and threw my bag on the couch. "Arin do your homework!" I called to my brother as he dashed up the stairs to his room.

"Your not the boss of me!" He called back, I crossed my arms glaring at the stairs. Footsteps sounded upstairs but suddenly haulted as another voice was heard. "Yes but I am the boss of you, do your homework." I heard my dad say, I giggled slightly at the groan of arin as his backpack dragged on the hardwood floor. My dad came back down stairs, he stood six feet tall with a usually blank face. He had broad shoulders and dark hair. "That goes the same for you, Sara." He said walking to the kitchen.

"I don't have any, did it in class." I answered. "Where's mom?"

"Took Jason to the doctor. Thinks he has walking pneumonia again." He said. I rolled my eyes the one thing that my mom was known for was over reacting over everything. I started to hum as I walked in circles, eventually my hums turned into my choir warmup.

"Awe poor bird, take thy flight
Far above the sorrows of this sad night."

As I continued to sing while getting dizzy, the phone rang. Too busy with my spinning I waited for my dad to answer. "Hello? What? Jen calm down I can't hear you? What?" He said to the phone talking to my mom. I had spun so much I fell on the floor dazed at the spinning world around. Arin came barreling down the stairs.

"I'm done!" He proclaimed looking at dad.

"Shut up you idiot dads on the phone." I called from the floor, brushing my black hair from my face as I stood.

"He has what?" My dad said as both arin and I looked at him. "OK, well be there as fast as we can." My dad hung up the phone tears starting to form in His eyes.

"What's wrong dad?" I asked starting to get a little bit worried. Arin, being the jerk he is didn't seem to care and pranced back upstairs. My dad had one hand in the kitchen table and the other covering his eyes. I took a step towards the kitchen. "Dad?" I asked again.

"Jason has lymphoma." He said. Me being the dumb eighth grader that I am had no clue what he was talking about. "Is that bad?" I asked.

"Sara, lymphoma is cancer." He said.
