Twilight: A New Story

Chapter 4

We began packing up and headed back to Forks. Edward and Bella had left in a car and were deciding what to do. The rest of us were prepared to protect Bella, no matter what. We were waiting in the house for them to come back, if they were.

James was a tracker. He would track Bella to the ends of the earth and kill her, just for the fun of it. He was fascinated by Edward and her relationship. Emmett and Alice had gone to join them and protect them if James came near.

Laurent had come to warn us about James. He had grown tired of James, and wanted to help us. James had unparalleled senses and he was absolutely lethal. And he told us not to underestimate Victoria.

'I've fought our kind before. They're hard to kill,' said Jasper in the garage.

'But not impossible,' said Emmett.

James was most likely to follow Edward as he would guess Bella would be with her. I would stay at the house, just in case, but mainly because Carlisle was overprotective. I could read minds over long distances so I would know if I had to go help at Phoenix, which I probably would.

Nothing much happened. I just sat listening to everyone's thoughts. Mainly Alice's. If anything happened, I would know with Alice.

James had figured out Bella wasn't with Edward. He had changed course and was headed to Phoenix. He was headed for the Ballet Studio. He was most likely going to try and lure Bella there.

I decided I was heading for Phoenix. I hopped on my motorbike and drove there. This wasn't looking good. I decided to head for the Ballet Studio, but getting there would take a while.

It took a good while to get there, but when I did I met Carlisle and the others just outside. Edward was already inside as he had beaten everyone else there.

'You were meant to stay at home!' said Carlisle.

'I saw James at the Ballet Studio and knew he would try and lure Bella there! I came to help!' I said.

'Wait... You saw? Explain later! We need to go and help!' said Carlisle and we all ran inside.

The first thing I saw was Bella. James had bitten her and she was in the middle of her transformation. Carlisle headed to Edward to stop him killing James and Carlisle, Edward, Alice and I all headed to Bella. Jasper and Emmett took James.

'Bella! You're okay, it's okay!' said Alice, 'Oh god. Carlisle? Her blood!'

Emmett and Jasper started a fire and Alice went over to them to help as she couldn't take the blood.

They ripped off James' head and burned him. Bella was bleeding really badly. James had broken her leg and the venom was spreading quickly.

'Edward... There is only one way to stop the transformation! You need to suck the venom out,' Carlisle told Edward.

'What if I'm not able to stop?' asked Edward, looking at Bella sadly.

'You will!' said Carlisle and Edward knelt down.

He began to suck the venom out of the bite. He eventually managed to get the venom out, but even though he knew he had managed he kept drinking her blood.

'Edward... The venom is gone. Her blood is clean,' said Carlisle, 'Edward, you're killing her. Edward, stop. Find the will to stop.'

Edward eventually managed to stop, but Bella was weak. She had lost a lot of blood and was in a critical condition.

Edward saved Bella. She was in the hospital and as soon as we got home, Carlisle confronted me.

'What did you mean? You saw James?' he asked.

'I... I...' I sighed and Carlisle gave me a look telling me he will accept nothing but the truth, 'I have an ability, too... I can take anyone I have met, well anyone who had an ability, but I can take their ability and use it for myself. They still have the ability, but I have it too, until I use a new one.'

Carlisle frowned then nodded, 'I understand why you didn't tell us... If you don't want me to, I won't tell anyone either.'

'Thank you...' I whispered.

Bella and Edward went to the Prom together and I spent all night playing on the computer, Skyping Jensen and Melanie.

What an eventful year.
