About a fortnight after the wedding, Edward and Bella rushed home. Bella thought she might be pregnant and Carlisle and Edward were incredibly worried. They didn't think it was possible but if it was, they didn't know how were body would react to something with vampire DNA.
It couldn't be possible though, could it? Vampires were infertile so she couldn't possibly be pregnant. But if she was... God knows what it could be.
It was draining her strength, eating her from the inside. And it was growing rapidly. It was more developed than it could logically be and it would soon kill her. She couldn't possibly survive the birth and we were trying to persuade her to get rid of it, but she wasn't having it. She wanted to have a child and she didn't care whether or not it killed her.
We hooked her up to some machines but Carlisle was adamant that nothing would save her if she chose to give birth to the child. She looked like a skeleton.
I tried to stay out of the way as much as I could to let Carlisle do his job, occasionally going to get whatever Bella needed. We were trying to keep her in as much comfort as possible as we knew she probably wouldn't make it through.
Bella believed that Carlisle could change her at the last minute so both her and the foetus could live, but the chances were slim. Edward would probably make Bella give it up if she didn't have Rosalie on her side, who would kill anyone who tried to harm it without a second thought. She wasn't doing it for Bella though, Rosalie just wanted a baby.
It was tearing Edward apart. He didn't want to lose Bella but he also didn't want to hurt Bella by taking it away.
Jacob came to see Bella and stormed out, looking furious. About half an hour later, Jensen, Jacob, Seth and Leah arrived.
'What is it?' I asked, Edward right behind me.
'Get ready,' Jacob said.
'For what?' Edward asked.
'They're coming for Bella,' Jacob replied.
'They're not going to touch her,' Edward snarled.
'Agreed,' Edward walked inside and I followed him.

We all sat down and Jacob and the others came in.
'Sam's lost the element of surprise,' he said, 'And he doesn't want to be outnumbered. He's not going to take you head on. He's got the place surrounded and he's gonna wait for his opportunity.'
'We won't get through without a fight,' I said.
'No fights. We won't be the ones to break the treaty,' Carlisle sighed.
'The treaty is void. At least in Sam's mind,' Jensen said.
'Not in ours,' Carlisle replied.
'Carlisle, no ones hunted for weeks,' I told him.
'We'll make do,' he turned to Jacob, 'You've done us a great service. Jacob. Thank you.'
Jacob and the others were going to keep guard for us to protect Bella. Jacob wasn't planning on letting them near Bella and Jensen wasn't letting them near me.

'Your rib is cracked but there are no splinters. You haven't punctured anything,' Carlisle was telling Bella.
'Yet,' Edward commented.
'Edward,' I warned.
'It's breaking her bones now. It's crushing you from the inside out. Carlisle, tell her what you told me. Tell her,' Edward growled.
