Years passed with me staying with the Volturi. A deep sadness had settled deep within me. Sure, I had spent six years away from my family but I'd always had the knowledge that I'd see them again, but now it was more than likely that would never happen. Being without Jensen left me with an empty feeling, a knowledge that I'd never be me again without him. We had become one, and now we were apart it was like a piece of me was missing. I had lost track of time with the Volturi, for all I knew I could have been here for decades or even centuries.

I was often called upon to assist when someone needed disposed of, occasionally using the ability to give someone a new image to see if the Volturi wished for them to be in a happy place when it was over, or maybe their version of hell, and sometimes they needed me to read their mind without it being obvious the way Aro does it. I took no joy in completing any tasks, but I did them to appease the Volturi.

I did note that Aro had grown bored of me. He had expected the mass feedings that occurred to turn me, or the violence that surrounded me to do the same. He wanted me to give into my true nature, he didn't want the empty shell that he had now. He wanted to prove a point, that no immortal child could ever be docile. I could sense that my ability not useful enough for him to tolerate my almost zombie-like demeanour.

He hadn't taken into account the fact that I could use Bella's ability to shield myself from any attempt to make me think I wanted to join the Volturi. He was at the end of his tether and I couldn't predict what he would do to get rid of me.

Jane and Alec were off dealing with other matters and so I was the key piece in the Volturi at the moment. A vampire had just been taken in because he had broken some of the sacred laws.

'Molly,' Aro said, signalling for me to use Jane's ability.

With no enthusiasm for the task whatsoever, I made the vampire fall to the ground, writhing and screaming in agony. It made me sick, seeing this happening but all I could do was what I was told, nothing more.

'You have broken our most sacred of laws and you cannot be allowed to live,' Aro said, signalling to one of the guards to take care of him.

I averted my eyes as this happened and the room was suddenly filled with silence.

'Go,' he said suddenly.

'Sire?' I asked, taken aback.

'You are of no use and you are of no danger either,' he said, 'I cannot stand the gloom you cast upon this place. Leave before I change my mind and kill you.'

'Aro!' Caius said, looking appalled, 'She is an immortal child!'

'I am aware, brother,' Aro replied, fixing me with a steely glare.

'Th-thank you,' I said, backing out of the room quickly.

I put my hood up to protect myself from the glare of the midday sun. Tourists gave me strange looks as I breezed past them but I didn't care. I was free!

There was one problem. It had been years since I last saw my family and I had no idea where they were.

I decided to go back to Forks in the hope something there might tell me where I would find them. Maybe one final letter had been left for me?

I arrived at the house to find a familiar sleek, black Mercedes sitting in the drive. A few other cars surrounded it and I froze. Were they all here?

'We may as well face it,' I heard Edward's familiar voice, 'There is no point in returning here again. The Volturi have her and she's not coming back.'

'We can't lose hope,' Carlisle's voice was strained.

'Carlisle... I don't want to give up either but the Volturi's word is final,' Emmett said.

'Why don't you just storm in and take her?' Jacob Black was there. In fact, I heard three hearts beating which meant Nessie was there along with...

'Jensen,' I breathed.

'We'd all be killed,' Jasper muttered, 'And she told us not to come. We must respect her wishes.'

I took a deep breath and walked towards the front door, knocking softly.

'I thought nobody knew we were here?' Esme said.

'It's not nobody...' Edward gasped. He was looking out the window.

'The Volturi?' asked Rosalie.

'You could say that,' he said, his voice barely a whisper.

I felt eyes on me from up above but I knew only Edward could tell it was me as my face was covered. The silence my mind gave him told him all he needed to know. I opened the door and glided in, swiftly moving up the stairs and towards the sitting room where they all were.

As I opened the door, I was surrounded by gasps. I gazed around the room calmly, my eyes settling upon Jensen. His eyes were wide as he took me in and he seemed unable to speak.

Everyone seemed unsure of what to think as I looked over them all with such a mysterious and authoritative aura. I could tell they were searching for a hint of red in my eyes. I fixed Carlisle with a cool, emotionless gaze before I allowed my face to break into a smile.

'Miss me?' I asked and Jensen barrelled into me.

'Never do that again,' he hugged me tightly.

'Oh god... You're back,' Carlisle said and everyone's faces broke into gleeful expressions, 'I was worried Aro had gotten into your head there.'

'He tried,' I smiled.

'We have waited for so long,' Edward said, 'to see your face again.'

'And I've waited so long to see yours,' I sighed.

Jensen let go of me and Carlisle immediately took his place.

'I was worried they had killed you,' he breathed, 'Alice couldn't see anything... It was as if you had just disappeared, you didn't exist!'

'Molly!' a girl who looked older than me but had familiar brown eyes was staring at me.

'Nessie?' I asked, shocked, 'You've certainly grown!'

Jacob Black had his arm wrapped around her tightly.

'How did you get away?' Edward asked and I realised I still had my shield up so I dropped it.

'Aro had wanted a reaction from me,' I said, 'They had mass feedings in front of me, made me dispose of many a vampire, all this because they expected me to turn. He grew bored when he realised that wasn't about to happen.'

'Thank god for that,' Edward embraced me tightly and grinned.

I let my cloak fall and there were gasps as everyone glanced at my arms.

'What happened?' Jensen asked, examining them.

'Other vampires,' I said shortly, 'The Volturi made me do their dirty work and some of it didn't quite go as planned.'

'Are you OK?' asked Emmett and I nodded.

'It was just a few scratches,' I smiled, 'Nothing major.'

Rosalie walked up to me and gripped my hand.

'We've had our disagreements but...' she sighed, 'I was so worried we would never see your face again. You have done so much for this family and you were just gone. You left a hole in this family and you have filled it again.'

'Thank you,' I smiled. Maybe we could finally live in peace again.
