Waiting in The City

It was new years eve and Elinor was standing by the back door, letting the cold December air get to her flushed face, she was standing there just looking for something or maybe someone to come and find her but as the countdown to midnight went on nobody came. So she stood the all alone counting down her self, '' 7...6...5...4...3...2...1, happy new years'' she whisperered with tears in her eyes and a half smile on her face. Just then everybody from inside the house came pouring out into the garden to see the  fireworks, all ignoring Elinor, so she just went back inside to be alone again.

Once she was inside the house she sat on the big arm chair, tucked up her legs underneath her and started to cry. This past year had been hard for Elinor and her family; in February last year her Grandfather, who she loved very dearly and whom she had a connection almost unbreakable with, was diagnosed with cancer. He spent over six months in a hospice and then passed away in early October. This was hard for Elinor to even think about, yet she couldnt stop thinking about it, she was the one who was with him most of the time and the one who with him in his very last moments.  Elinor never left his side in the hospice and on the second of October, at quater past three in the afternoon, Elinor sat by her Grandfarther's bed as he said...

''Elli this is going to be hard but i need you to listen, i love you so very much and i could not have anyone better standing by my side right now, you are going to do some amazing things and meet some fantstic people; you are going to get married to a nice young gentleman and have children of your own. I'm not going to be with you and to stand by your side but im going to watch over you... like you guardien angel'' he stopped to take a breath and lightly chuckled and what he just said, ''but i need you to promise me something''.

 Elinor moved closer to him to erdge him to go on, she had tears at the brims of her eyes but would'nt let them fall, she needed to be strong and ensure her Grandafarther that she was going to be okay. He started agian, but in a whisper now, like he only wanted his Elli to hear what he had to say ''I need you to promise me that you will live your life, that you wont hold back and that you will take risks, don't let anything or anyone, including me, hold you back; okay?'' Elinor breathed in heavily and out just the same the first tear was rolling down her cheek now, ''okay grandy i promise''. He let out a sigh of relieaf and then closed his eyes, Elinor watching his chest very closley to make shore he was still breathing and then at twenty to four, he stopped breathing.

Elinor woke up the next morning in her own bed, her older brother Adam must have carried her up  last night,  her head hurt and her eyes were red and puffy she had fallen asleep crying. When she got downstairs she was greeted by Adam with his arms outstretched and a comforting simle, Adam was seven years older than Elinor was and much bigger so hugs of him made her feel at home and safe in her brothers arms. ''How are you ths afternoon?'' Elinor looked at the time and he was right it was half one in  the afternoon ''im fine'' she sighed heavily, ''i was just upset last night, because of the new year and all and grandy not being with us''. Adam looked at her and smiled at her like she was six agian and he was thirteen ''Elli its been over two months now, it is very upsetting, it has been for all of us and i know you and grandy had a speacial bond but you need to start living agian?'' Elinor could feel the tears rushing to the brims of her eyes, becasue he was right and she knew it, she remembered what her Grandfarther had said in the hospice and she knodded to let her brother know that she understood. ''Why don't you go and visit Haley? She rang for you just over an hour ago but i told her you were still sleeping?'' ''sure i'll ring her back now'' Elinor replied as she sepertated from her brother ''will you make me some toast and honey?''  ''sure'' Adam smiled a huge grin and left to go into the kitchen.

Elinor picked up the phone and started dialing Haley's number, Haley was Elinor's best friend and had been sice they met over the internet three years ago. When Elinor was younger she had no friends accept for her brother and once Adam turned fourteen he stopped playing with Elinor and would go out and leave her all on her own, so as soon as Elinor found out the concept of the internet she was never off it and from the age of eleven watched youtube non-stop, she then decided to show her love for these youtubers, like; Shane Dawson, Charlieissocoollike and Amazingphil, by creating a blog for them and so did Haley. As two bloggers they would talk and share ideas, but the more they talked the more they got to know eachother and when they found out they both lived in London they were inseprable!

E: ''Hello?''

H: ''Hi! Elli i've missed you so much you have no idea and when you stopped posting on your blog i thought that was it you'd vanished, disapeared, so how are you are you okay? Adam  said that you needed a bit of cheering up?''

E: ''Yeah i'm fine.. well actually i've been a bit upset agian but i'm coping.. how are you?''

H: ''Well missy i actually have the bestist best news ever!!.. and you can't say no before you say no..okay?!''

E: ''Okay...?''

H: ''Well last year some people got together from the youtube comunity in the summer do you remember?''

E: ''Yeah i think so?...They called it summer in London or something like that?''

H: ''Summer in the city you twat but yeah thats the one, well guess what?!''

Elinor could tell already just by the excitement in her voice what she was going to say?

E: ''What?''

H: ''WE'RE GOING TO SUMMER IN THE CITY!!''

Elinor had to move the phone away from her ear Haley was squeeling so loudly, but Elinor could'nt help but have a huge grin on her face.

E: ''Wow thats fantastic, how did you find out where it was and everything?''

H: ''Well if you had been blogging recently or maybe checked your e-mails you would know too''

E: ''Okay I'm sorry? so how do you know then?''

H: ''Well you know Gemma from Ashford? Well her sister the one who has the youtube channel  whent last year and asked Gemma if she wanted to go this year and meet some of the new youtubers as well, obvcourse Gemma said yes, she then e-mailed me and you to ask  us if we wanted to go with her!''

E: ''Oh my God thats fantastic, so when is it? Who's going to be there?'

H: ''It's in the summer at like the end of July and I don't know yet? But I think Amazingphil is going this year with his friend who just started youtube... what's his name agian the one you really like?''

E: ''Danisnotonfire!''

H: ''That's him Dan Howell''

Elinor couldnt believe it! She hadnt actually told Haley yet but she had become a bit more found of Dan than she had let on,  she had sort of formed a crush for him, if that was even possible.
