I sighed and looked up to the clock. Two minutes until summer break. I had already gotten my diploma stuff and gotten my parents to allow me a gap year in London to decide what to do with my life. Only 12 more hours until my 3:00AM flight to London. A new apartment. A new job at
Syco Entertainment (my parents showed my photography to them and they hired me yay)! Basically a new start. I can finally start friendships without constant rumors. I can finally get out of this dump I have to call high school. The everyday, torturous lonely road I’ve had to travel. But that road is coming to an end. I’m finally clearing those clouds away. With me I’ve taken experiences to strengthen myself along the rest of my life.
BRRRRRRING.
Finally school is over, now I can go home and finish up packing. I grabbed my bag and quickly stalked out of the room and the school. I ran to my red minicooper. My family may have had more money than others but, that wasn’t ever something I talked about. I was very grateful of what I had. I put the roof down letting the harsh Texan sun beat down on me. I plugged in my iPod and put on a song that was describing a little bit of how I felt. Plus the song is pretty cool
You Don’t Know How It Feels ~Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
You don’t know how it feels
No you don’t know how it feels to be me
People come, people go
Some grow young, some grow cold
I woke up in between
A memory and a dream
Memories of my high school horror story rushed into my head but, I always stayed quiet, dreaming of leaving here like I was right now. I thought about how my best friend had quickly turned into my worst enemy and daily torturer. The worst part of it all. The one who knew me the best and the one with the most power. Ughhh. I shiver in my mind as I pull up to the gates to say hi to Tim, our security guard.
He lets me in and I drive up to the house putting my car in the garage. I see both my parent’s cars. I’m always happy when they are both home. They always made my day brighter. I was extremely close to them both. I just wished that my older sister could come back from Bangladesh where she was working as a missionary. I walked into the kitchen and hung my coat, putting my car keys into the dish. I rushed over to my desk to deposit my books and walked into the family room to see both my parents drinking tea and eating cookies with my younger sister Jessica. I saw two extra settings.
“Hey Mom! Hey Dad! Hey Jess! Who’s here?” I said to my parents pointing to the extra cups.
“Well, one cup is for you. And the other cup is for our guest, who just went to the lavatory.” My dad said.
“Who is the guest?” I said. Looking to Jess to see she couldn't contain her smile.
“Didn’t think you would forget me so quickly, sis.” Said a voice
I could recognize anywhere.
“HANNAH!! You are finally home! I’ve missed you so much. It’s been too long.” I screeched as I pulled her into a gargantuan hug, trying to get in all the hugs I had missed in the 7 months she had been gone.
“DANI!! I’m finally home! I’ve missed you too. Look how tall you’ve gotten.
You’re so skinny. Wow, girl you look great.” She said squeezing me back with an equal amount of force.
I pushed her back to take a good look at her. She had very tan hands and face from having to wear a burka. She would always be sending us emails with code words disguising words like Jesus and God because in
Bangladesh, Christianity wasn’t socially accepted. Her dark brown hair was let down, showing her layers. Her white teeth stood out like pearls in the sand. She looked good too. I was so happy that my sister was here to see me off before I spent a good part of my life on the other side of the world.
"Ahem," My father said clearing his throat. "I believe that you two have some catching up to do so why don't you got up to Elle's room and chat so that Elle can finish packing."
"I leave for 7 months and y'all get a new nickname without me? I'm never leaving again." Hannah joked. We both headed up to my room. Me, grabbing my Italian Greyhound, Zed.
When we got upstairs I showed Hannah around my new renovated room. It had high ceilings with a mahogany loft bed. My bed was made with a turquoise comforter and zebra print pillows to tie together my turquoise walls and zebra print carpet. The hardwood floors were the same shade as the loft bed and desk underneath. Off to the side I had a bookshelf that doubled as a bedside table. By the bookshelf was a hanging chair with a white interior, a mahogany TV stand for my flat screen and my DVD collection.
I put my backpack down by my desk and then I walked into my closet to get out my unpacked suitcase. I brought it out and onto the floor and started packing while my sister and I chatted about what had happened during the 7 months we were apart.
This is kinda long for me, but the next chapter isn't nearly as long. Give me you constructive criticism!
