Finally, it's finally my junior year of high school. I'm an upperclassman now, I don't have to take their bullshit anymore.
But I certainly don't want to give bullshit either.
"Sonya, hello? You're spacing out again." Natasha complains, waving a hand in front of my face and bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Huh? Oh sorry. What did you ask?" I say, knowing that most of the time when Natasha needs to get my attention it's because she has a question.
"I'm scared. What if no one likes me?" Natasha says, biting her nails.
"Then they don't like you. And you can hang out with me instead." I reply. Even if Natasha can be annoying, she's my cousin and I love her. I mean, I've been living with her since I was four, it'd be inconvenient to not love her.
"But that'd be lame." She sighed, "Whatever, they'll like me. Everyone always likes me."
I roll my eyes, "Not everyone, Tasha, but if you say so. Now when we get to school remember: you're dating someone from a different school, if you go after one of those stoners I'll skin you."
Natasha just rolls her eyes and we continue walking to school. I might love her but Natasha can be such a self-centered brat, I hope that doesn't bother anyone at school too much.
Once we get to school I rush to find Mary.
"Okay, I know I love her but Jesus sometimes Natasha is so naïve." I say, huffing once I lean against the wall by Mary's locker.
Mary fidgets a bit, "You know I don't like her. Even if she is dating my brother."
"Why don't you like her again?"
"She's so full of herself and everything to her is looks. She really doesn't care about personality. At all." Mary shrugs, "I dunno, she just seems like a stereotypical popular girl to me."
"You're not wrong." I admit, sighing, "I've just learned- well, forced myself to look past that part of her."
Mary laughs, "Come on, we have choir together first hour." She says, referring to chamber choir. Which Natasha is in. Oh no...

I'm honestly quite nervous for Chamber Choir. I've heard I'm the only freshman in it.
Sonya is in the class too. She's really talented, I hope I'm not just known as 'the talented girl's cousin.'
"Hey! You're Natasha right?" A tall ginger girl asks me, standing outside the door of the choir room.
"Um, yeah, that's me..." I say slightly uncomfortable because who is this girl and how does she know my name.
"I'm Marya, I heard about you and thought I'd show you around? Sorry, that sounds weird, I'm kind of a mom friend." She laughs uncomfortably.
"That sounds awesome! Aren't you a family friend?" I ask, thinking I recognize her once she's said her name.
"Yeah, Your dad is really close to my dad. But I don't really come over much anymore, I used to when you were really young." Marya shrugs.
As awkward as this should be, I laugh. "That's cool. I'd love it if you showed me around."
Just then, the bell rings. "Maybe after school. I can even give you a ride home, if you want." Marya smiled at me.
I smile back at her and then walk into the choir room. I wave at Sonya who smiles and starts to wave back but falters when she seems Marya. Weird...
I walk up to the teacher, "Hi, I'm Natasha. I'm a freshman and I dunno what my voice part should be..."
"Ah, yes. Natasha! I've heard wonders about your soprano. So I'm going to place you in soprano in SATB choir and Soprano One in SSA." She smiles at me widely. She seems... A bit fake.
"Ah yes, our power couple! Dolokhov and Hélène!" Someone says sarcastically as the two- who I assume are Dolokhov and Hélène.
"Shut up! You know I'm with Pierre." Hélène says, rolling her eyes. Once I really look at her I'm shocked by what she's wearing. A super lowkey black and green dress with pearls around her neck. A very odd combination for a high schooler. Like, who is she, Veronica Lodge?
I timidly take a spot in the soprano section and then Hélène walks up to me. "Hello, Marya. Who's the newbie?"
"I'm Natasha." I say, putting out my hand to shake. To be honest I'm quite mesmerized by her, she's so... Confident.
"Rostova? Prettier than I expected." Hélène shrugged, walking over to the alto section and taking a seat. Confident but rude. Yet I have this weird need for her to like me- Well, a need for everyone to like me.
I kind of lose focus for the first like half an hour of choir. I mean, it's first hour, I'm still half asleep.
I don't pay attention until I hear the door open to see a tall blonde walk in.
A tall blonde guy. A hot tall blonde guy.
"Anatole, you decided to join us." The teacher says, fake smiling at Anatole.
