Chapter one: Introducing Mia

I wake up on a regular Saturday morning at 9 thinking about my day ahead. After motivating myself to get out of bed I go into the bathroom and wash my face.
I go downstairs to find my mom about to leave and my dad nowhere in sight. "Where are you going?" I asked while stuffing my mouth with Oreos. "Shopping," she replied, before grabbing her bag and rushing out.
Sighing, I grab the box of Oreos and sat on the couch to watch cartoons. Moments later my little brother joined me on the couch, "Where's mom and dad? What's for breakfast?" he asked while choking down cheese crackers. "I don't know where dad is and mom just left to go shopping. Breakfast.... uhh..... go check the kitchen," I replied
With the seven-year age gap between my brother and me, people are shocked that we actually speak to each other. (I'm seventeen and he's 10 btw)
I should probably introduce myself. I'm Mia Aarti Sharma.
I live with my parents and younger brother (Adam). This is my last year in high school when I graduate I hope to get a scholarship.
And right now it's a typical Saturday........

Mia's typical Saturday

Wake up between 8 - 11

Best friend (s) come over

Go to the library or a café, do homework

Go home, do chores

Text and/or read (sometimes study when I'm not lazy) until I fall asleep

People say that I'm pretty boring but I prefer to say out of trouble and under the radar. Anyways back to the story. I'm presently searching for my phone which is probably dead while Adam makes pancakes (yes, he can cook, no, I can't)

I find my phone (it's at 7% yayy) next to the kitchen sink and propping myself up on the kitchen counter I ask "Going to basketball practice today?" Briefly glancing at me he nods, "I'll ride," he says.
"Ok," I reply glad that I won't be dropping him off.
Texting my crew in the groupchat I head upstairs to take a shower. I quickly change into a black hoodie and jeans, hopping down the stairs I pull on a pair of beat up sneaks.
I find all 6 of my best friends seated in the living room. While shoving half a pancake into my mouth I scribble a note to my brother saying that there's money on my drawers for him to buy food. I remember to put "I love you and stay safe"  He doesn't hear it enough.
"Come on assholes" I sing, "It's a great day." My best friends find it weird that I find cold, windy autumn the best time of the year.
Stepping outside and closing the door the autumn wind takes my hair in swirls around my face. As we walk down the road leaves crackling beneath our feet, my thoughts stray to what it would be like if I didn't have my best friends. Like honestly I don't think I would survive a day without 'em. My parents were abusive and they were like second parents.
