One week later, I stood with Sophia in her bedroom, making the final adjustments to her dress.
"Is my makeup okay?"
"For the fifth time, your makeup looks beautiful." I told her.
"And my hair? It's still holding up?"
"It's perfect." I smiled.
"What about-"
I took her shoulders and looked her in the eyes. "Sophia, you look breathtaking. Nothing is going to happen."
She took a deep breath and nodded.
"I'm going to the ballroom to make sure everything is in order. Do not touch your hair, and do not smudge that eyeliner, it took Mary thirty tries to perfect it." I winked.
She giggled and shut the door behind me.
Trying not to trip, I ran down the stairs in my navy blue dress. It had one strap on the left side of it. I wore that one, making me stand out slightly as Sophia's maid of honor. The bridesmaids wore either strapless dresses, or a v-neck with two straps, all navy blue. All of us would wear cute while shawls to complete the look.
I entered the ballroom and gasped. The decor would never cease to amazing me. The entire color scheme was navy and white, making the room have a classy aura to it. The tables all had our best China, with dark blue napkins folded into pretty designs on the plates. The tall, seven layer cake stood at the end of the tables filled with food. It was white with navy ribbons tied around it, complete with beautiful sugar snowflakes tied to it.
The chandelier stood in the middle of the room, illuminating all the hard work we put into this wedding.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" I turned. Elijah and Mary walked in the room. Elijah walked in slowly, savoring each step, while Mary ran towards the cake.
"Yeah. I'm proud of all our hard work here." I smiled.
"Oh, I was talking about you." Elijah winked, and I laughed.
"EW, PDA!" Mary yelled without turning around.
I rolled my eyes. "What are you guys doing here?"
"I had to check on the cake." Mary walked back towards us.
"Didn't you check on it last night, and again this morning?" I asked.
"Yes, but this has to be perfect." She tapped her foot at a rapid pace. "Perfect." She repeated.
"And it will be. You two don't have to be so nervous." Elijah soothed us.
"How could you tell I was nervous?" I asked.
"I know you."
I chuckled. "Thank you. Sophia just deserves the world, that's all."
"She doesn't want the world. She wants this wedding to be fun, and I guarantee she would rather you two relax then worry over every little thing for her."
Mary stopped tapping her foot, and I stopped playing with my bracelet, which I hadn't realized I had been doing.
"Thanks, Elijah." Mary said.
"Anytime. Now lets go, Gabe is getting impatient, and I can't stop him from eating lollipops for much longer."
We walked back upstairs. Time to watch my best friend get married.
