I did the only thing I could, and that was leave. I left my father's office where the man I had just escaped sat. Part of me was furious with my father as he betrayed me. He invited a monster into our home, once again.

I turned the many corners of our hallway, listening to the sounds of yelling behind me. Malachi and my father were following me throughout the house, pleading that I stopped and listen to their untrustworthy words.

Nope, not going to happen.

When the white wooden door of my childhood room appeared in front of me, I took the doorknob into my small hand and opened the door. The purple walls covered in picture frames came into view, letting me release a sigh. I walked in, locking the door behind me, and jumped on the small queen sized bed that was in the middle of the room. Gathering the silky fabric between my fingers, I placed the blanket over my body and closed my eyes.

Even though my eyes were closed, I couldn't fall asleep. The thought of my father believing that piece of crap over me was really taking a toll on me. I'm his daughter of 20 years and he'd rather listen to a dumb royal brat than me.

"Open up," Malachi said softly, his pounding not matching the tone of his voice.

"Leave me alone."

"Please, I want to explain,"

"Go away Malachi."

"Please,"

"No."

"Rayne please just-"

"I said get the fuck away from me!" I yelled, pulling the blanket closer to my face.

Everything went silent and I was finally at a certain peace. I figured Malachi had left because the pounding stopped and his shadow wasn't under the door anymore.

I sighed and turned over, allowing the sleepiness take over. My eyes began to grow heavy, looking around the room, until something caught my eye. It was an old book my mother would read to me at night when I was younger.

I got up from my very comfortable bed and walked towards the book. I gathered the worn and torn book in my hands, running my fingers over the leather cover. I untied the leather strings around the book and opened it to the first page, revealing a handwritten note from my father.

~

To: My beloved daughter,

May you know the truth about who you are someday.

Love, Father

~

I turned to the next page, noticing it was blank of letters. I turned to the next one, ready to read but that page was empty as well. Growing a little irritated, I flipped through the book, realizing all the pages were blank.

I started to think about the stories my mother told me, they had great detail and always kept me interested. Did she just tell me random stories or was I missing something?

I threw the book across the room, watching it fly in the air until my door busted open. I looked over to the door to see a pissed Malachi, and then a smacked in the face by a book Malachi.

I couldn't help but laugh as the book smacked him against the head and fell to his feet. Obviously, Malachi didn't find the situation funny because he growled out and began to charge at me. I could see the anger in his now black eyes, and a small vein pop out from his forehead.

He stalked towards me making me step back, trying to escape his angry Alpha fit but as I continued to walk back, the wall stopped me from going any further. I mentally protested, looking for a way to get out but I was trapped between the wall and an Alpha.

I watched as his eyes raked over my body, until he caged me in. His built arms were now on both sides of me, while his face inched closer to mine. I could feel his hot breath fan across my neck, making my knees tremble and my heartrate increase.

"I think you forget who I am sometimes," He growled into my face. My eyes that were once trailing his body, were now looking straight into his.

"I don't forget who you are, I just don't care about who you are." I spat back, earning a low growl and a punch to the wall from him.

"I am an Alpha, a Royal Alpha. You will obey me as an Alpha and as my Mate," His jaw clenched at the small smile that was forming on my face. "What's so funny to you?"

"The fact that you think you have some sort of power over me when you don't," I smiled and shook my head in a disbelieving way. "You are and always will be nothing but Malachi to me."

The anger in his eyes and face was now increased to a 135%. I had pissed him off even more and enjoyed every bit of it. His eyes stayed focused on my amused face before he turned around and left.

Removing myself from the wall, I ran over to the door and shut it before jumping into my bed once again. I got comfortable and attempted to do what I was originally trying to do. Sleep.
