Wendy pinned the last pieces of her white hair in a bun together. She looks at herself in the mirror. Her freckles are even more noticeable on her porcelain skin than before. Her grey almost white eyes are dull without any trace emotion. She grabs her book from her bed and walks downstairs. She greeted Mary who was cooking breakfast for her mother and father. They always eat breakfast together. Klaus was already helping the local doctor. She walked outside and went to the great blossom tree. The blossom looked beautiful and Wendy was already afraid of the summer ending. The blossom would be gone and she had go to school, a public school. She was always home tutored because they travelled so much, but her mother wanted Wendy to have the last years of childhood on one place, so she could make friends and have a normal childhood.

She read for a couple of hours before her mother told her to get inside. As she stood up she had a weird feeling in her stomach. She walked inside and helped her mother and Marry getting the tea ready. "Mother, when will father be home?" she asked her mother when she had the tea cups

It took a while before Wendy's mother responded. "I don't know my child," she looked at the kettle before going on, "he will not stay away long."

Wendy's father left for business. They did not say their farewells, they never did. Wendy responded by nodding.

Wendy, Alice (that's what wendy's mother is called) and Marry drank their tea silent. After tea Wendy played the piano. Klaus came home around 5;00.

"Klaus, how did it go," Wendy says as she hugs her older brother tight. He hugs her back. He responds with a simple good as they part. Klaus is 5 years older, but even with the age gap they act and are best friends.

The rest of the day was like always, Wendy and Klaus played the piano while Mary did some cleaning and Alice sat with her children listening to the music they made.

This went on for several days. 2 weeks before the beginning of school Michael (That's the name of Wendy's dad) came home. He hugged his wife brought his belonging upstairs and spent the rest of the day in the library.

When dinner arrived Wendy, her dad and Klaus had their first conversation in weeks. "Wendy tomorrow you and your mother will go on tea with Mrs. barry. She has a daughter around you age. You may become friends, if she and her mother like you," whilst saying this his eyes never leave his plate.

Wendy and Alice don't say anything. Klaus stays quiet but is about to speak what the three all think.

"Do you understand me Wendy?" Michael looks at the small teenager.

"Yes father," she looks at her brother and gives him a sign to shut up but he already laid his napkin next to his plate.

"Father can't Wendy decide if she wants to go? I mean we are here for her after all," Klaus looks at his mother and gives her a reassuring look.

"It is already settled," he leaves his two children and wife.

"That went well," Alice says as she walks into the kitchen with some of the plates.

The evening that day went well. The next day Wendy looked at herself in the mirror before going downstairs. "You look stunning," she turns around to see her older brother standing in the opening of the door.

"Thank you, do you think they will like me? Do you think Diana will like me?" Wendy looks desperate at her brother.

"Of Course they will," he reassures her and walks downstairs with her.

On the way to the mansion of the Barry's wendy is quiet so is her mother they look at the beautiful nature they see. "You could paint here, you haven't done that in such a long time. I would love to hang a new painting in the dining room," Alice says to break the silence. The Black haired woman looks at her daughter. She was sincere about what she said, she thinks that Wendy's drawings are emotions put on a canvas with care.
