"I just want to be a part of your symphony, will you hold me tight and not let go? Like a love song on the radio, will you hold me tight and not let go?".

Symphony // Clean Bandit ft. Zara Larsson

Warning: light mention of sexual intercourse at the end of the chapter.

Their time in Kuaui flew by far too soon and Maja finally got that nice tan without burning alive and using liters of self tanning crème or spray. The first race back home was Monaco, but Maja put Monaco in the file of "Races we don't talk about". Daniel's pit crew had made a mistake and the tires weren't ready for him as he wanted to pit. That had cost him a race win.

The trophy of the second position stood a bit shady at the back of his trophy collection. Daniel wanted to dedicate this to Jules so dearly, a lot of other drivers had managed to dedicate it to the driver they lost in July 2015, but not Daniel. And that's what had hurt him the most. Daniel was quiet for a couple days and Maja just let him be, gladly crawling into his embrace every night.

The Australian felt homesick and just needed to have the people at home around him. He felt locked up in the cage of nausea here and he wanted to go away from it.

"Maja, I need Australia at the moment". Daniel started while Maja was cooking dinner. She almost dropped the pan she was holding. She turned the fire a bit lower and looked over at him. "Well, if that's what you need, don't hesitate to buy a flight". Maja simply stated with a gentle smile on her face.

"Don't be so crazy, I want you with me". Daniel muttered and wrapped her up against his chest. "I told my parents I was coming". Maja froze at the thought of meeting his parents. "You want me to meet them?". She squealed and he chuckled. "I kinda do". Daniel admitted and she clutched the material of his shirt between her fingers.

"O-Okay, that's new, but fine". Maja nodded and stood on her tippy toes to kiss his lips. Daniel smiled and hoisted her up against himself. She laughed and wrapped her arms around his neck. Let's say the dinner was soon forgotten.

Perth, Australia, May 2017

Daniel breathed deeply in as soon as they stepped out of the plane. "Smells like home". He mumbled and nudged Maja's ribs, which caused her to roll her eyes at her favorite goof. "My dad is waiting for us in the arrivals hall". Daniel continued and slid his fingers through hers. Maja grabbed onto his hand and rolled her suitcase behind her.

Daniel's father was slightly smaller than Daniel was himself, nevertheless had that same beaming smile. She set her trolley next to her to reach him her hand. "Hi, I'm Maja". She politely introduced herself. "Welcome to Straya, Maja, I'm Joe". The man's Australian accent was thick and the exact same like Daniel's.

"How are you feeling, mate". Joe asked and patted Daniel on the shoulder. "Fine now, felt like a damn rusty sausage left in grandma's old barbie though". Maja looked up at Daniel's Aussie slang and shook her head, doubting if it was even Aussie slang and not made up by himself. Her boyfriend offered her a bright grin.

"Your mother is cooking dinner". Joe told his son as he opened the back door for them to get onto the backseat. Daniel nodded and swung his arm around Maja. The car ride from the airport to the Ricciardo household wasn't long, but Maja could notice the difference in surroundings with Sydney.

Joe looked in the mirror to take a look at Daniel and smiled as he looked down at Maja with those twinkles in his eyes, which reminded him of the same look he always gave his karts when he was a small Daniel.
