"Hey noona, you okay? I've hardly seen you today, are you hiding from me?" Jungkook asked softly. I looked up from my book as he sat down next to me on the large couch.
It was Friday evening, the storm finally dying down a tiny bit.
I was happy the mansion was so large, giving me the opportunity to avoid the boys. I had stumbled upon the library this afternoon when I was looking for the bathroom. My full bladder was immediately forgotten once I had walked into the large room containing many filled bookcases. The books ranged from everything, English literature, encyclopedia, Korean language, poetry, fiction, you name it. After hours of admiring and looking through the collection of books in the library, I had chosen to read How To Kill A Mockingbird on the heavy, red couch that stood in the midst of it all.
Except for the raging storm outside, it had been peacefully quiet in the room.
I loved it.
It was exactly what I needed. These last couple of days had been chaotic and loud, the boys never leaving me alone, wanting to hear me out about my life and Sir Tsumin.
Jin kept going on about how extraordinary my story was and the abilities I had. He wanted to know as much as possible about what Sir Tsumin taught me. He was also very interested in the biological side of being an avatar, driven by the scientist within him. It wouldn't surprise me if he'd try to convince me to give him some DNA at some point, so he could do research on it in his lab.
Jimin and Taehyung had also been quite excited about the whole situation, constantly repeating how 'cool' and 'awesome' it was I was an avatar and how they were going to teach me great things. Taehyung had already offered to teach me how to sense people's emotions by the air curves around them, but Namjoon had quickly told him off, knowing I needed some rest after Alison's attack on Wednesday. Other than that, I hadn't seen or heard much of Namjoon at all. He wasn't avoiding me or anything, just insanely busy, as always. He was mostly in his office, trying to sort out the whole situation with Alison.
Then there was Hoseok.
Instead of bothering me with questions concerning being an avatar, he tried to comfort me by talking about anything other than that.
With that, I mean everything.
I now knew his entire life story, that his parents being some weapon gangsters was just a rumour and they just happen to be rich due to his grandparents passing on some company, the history and background of air bending, the process of ramen noodle production, the different types of kit-kat chocolates in the world, the inefficiency of washing machines, the conspiracy theory around milk being bad for you, the things you should do when running into a crocodile, and so on.
It was safe to say that the boy could talk.
Just like Namjoon, Yoongi had kept his distance. However, whereas Namjoon was just to occupied with other important tasks, Yoongi just didn't speak a word to me. The only thing he'd do when he'd be near was glare at me, ignoring any attempt of communication I would bother to make. His gaze had been even so bad that at one point I was sure he would try to murder me in my sleep. Surprisingly, I was still alive and breathing. I didn't understand why he appeared to be so angry with me though. At Jungkook's party months ago, his tough and emotionless exterior had seemed to melt a bit. I had even enjoyed his presence, the way he talked, laughed, and even touched me now and then. Now, he was just as the first day I met him, if not, worse. It bothered me significantly. It made me feel an emotion I hadn't been acquainted to.
A mixture of sadness? Disappointment? Guilt, perhaps?
I didn't have a clue.
Finally, there was Jungkook. Ever since the long conversation yesterday morning, he seemed off with me. He didn't say much, and if he did, there was no trace of his playfulness and flirting. A part of me missed that side of him, since it offered me comfort and could take my mind of things. I didn't know the other boys too well, and even though they were nice enough, I still didn't feel very comfortable around them. Jungkook had grown to be one of my best friends over these past few months, and a small part of me wanted nothing more than his support. This was mainly the reason why I chose not to ignore him when he interrupted me while reading the last chapter of the English classic.
