It was 11:38 on a Friday night, I laid in the bed browsing different social networks, since I didn't have shit else to do. Earlier I was considering going out tonight, but both of my friends had other plans & I refused to go out alone. "Damn" I said to myself as I clicked on this dude's snap, he wasn't doing anything major, he just posted a 3 second snap of himself. I'd see him around from time to time when me & my girls would go out, but every time I'd see him I'd melt inside. He was 6"0 tall, chocolate, muscular, almond shaped eyes, covered in tattoos, nonetheless with a gorgeous smile to go along with all of his other flawless features. I'm just talking and haven't even introduced myself, my name is Ashanti and I'm 22 years old. I'm 5"2, mocha brown, no waist with hips, big glossy eyes, soft curly hair that stopped at my shoulder blade, with a beautiful smile. I have a 3 year old son named Ashton, and we live in a small town named Albany, Ga. I got pregnant with Ashton at the age of 19, a few weeks after I started my first semester at Albany State University. I was so heartbroken and embarrassed that I got pregnant before the first semester of college could even end that I hid my pregnancy until I found out what I was having. If it weren't for Ashton I probably don't know where I'd be, I thank God for blessing me with him daily. Me and Ashton's dad weren't really together, honestly we were just messing around & I ended up pregnant. After I found out I was pregnant I ended the situationship with his father. Since then I've been single, and have become a stranger to being in love. People counted me out, but all throughout my pregnancy & afterwards I continued my education & I will be graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice this Fall. Your girl refused to be a statistic, and I had to lead my son by example. Ashton was in his room sleep, he went to bed earlier after I gave him a bath. I continued to lay in my queen sized bed bored as hell, I looked at the time and it was now 1:16 in the morning. " Why can't I go to sleep"? , I said to myself. I decided to turn on some music, maybe that will help me fall asleep. "We've been together over & over again" Jhene Aiko said in a serious tone. As Two-Minute warning played through my Beats Pill, I got out the bed and stared at myself in the mirror. All I had on was a tank-top & a pair of Pink Boyshorts. I stared at my physique & ran my fingers through my hair as I studied my body. Suddenly the music was interrupted by a text message, I walked over to my phone and read "You up?" from Brian. I hesitated on replying, but I replied " Yea, what's up"? Me and Brian have been talking on and off for a couple of months but mostly off. It's something about Brian I can't put my finger on, he didn't seem like a bad guy, but I didn't know if he was a good guy neither. He would always ask to take me out on dates, but I'd always refuse. I was very private when it came to my love life, and I never gave outsiders an opportunity to look in especially around my city. Brian would always ask to take me places locally, and I would always make excuses on why I couldn't go knowing I had an available schedule. " Can we talk?" Brian replied, I asked "About what?". I was unsure on where this conversation was going, but it definitely eliminated the small amount of sleepiness I felt coming over me. Brian was very flashy, handsome, 5"10 , light skinned, with a beard that connected to some waves that shined with the help of Murrays, water & a Durag, he had honey brown eyes that would charm you out your panties. The brother was fine, but I just wasn't interested, at times I felt like he was too much for me. I laid across my bed waiting for a reply, humming One Thing by Kevin Gates. Minutes went by and I never got a reply at least that's what I thought, since I dosed off into a deep sleep.
