California, San Francisco.

"Mom do you think we can go now?" Gabriella asks as she puts on her shoes.

"Ok ok Gabriella I'm coming." Gabriella's mom says as she walks down the stairs.

A dinner with her mom and some friends. Gabriella is a very curious 16 year old. She sees the world differently. She is homeschooled so she has no social life. Dinner with her mothers friends are the best days ever because for once she could talk to people. Social media isn't an option for her, neither is the internet in general because her mother thinks that it will ruin her from being the best of the best.

"Omg I'm so excited." Gabriella says as she clutches her dress.

The restaurant was fancy and so was her outfit.

"So Ember is here and so is Tina." Her mother says as they both walk into the restaurant. Instantly she sees a guy staring at her. The boy is around her age but more like 17. Blond hair and brown eyes. The boy is sitting next to Ember. Ember stands up out of her chair and hugs her mother and her.

"Aww hello Gabriella and Stephanie!" (Stephanie is Gabi's moms name)

"Hi Ember! Hey Tina! And oh my goodness hello Mathew!" Stephanie says hugging Mathew.

"Hello Mrs.Williams it's nice to see you again." The boy says as he glances at Gabi.

"This is my daughter Gabriella." Stephanie says introducing Gabriella to Mathew.

"Hey Gabriella." He says smiling. He's not the most charming boy in the world. All Gabriella can notice is his crooked smile.

"Hey." Gabriella says. There is a pause for a moment.

"Shall we eat?" Ember says.

"Oh yes!" Stephanie says. They all sat down. As they ate Mathew wouldn't stop looking at Gabriella. It was gross and disturbing. His smile made her lose her appetite.

40 minuets pass...

"Well I have to say that is the most interesting story ever." Tina says laughing. Mathew gives Gabriella a glance that makes her excuse herself from the table. Gabriella whispers in her mothers ear.

"Can I go to the book store nearby?" She whispers.

"Of course." Her mothers whispers back.

Completely disturbed Gabriella walks to the nearest book store. She's been to that book store so many times that everyone knows her there. I guess you can say she's smart. As she walks inside she is greeted by many. She smiles and immediately goes to the romance section. Gabriella always found love the most confusing and most interesting topic in her life. She's never had a sip of love herself that all she sees love as is a book genre. She is mesmerized by all the books held in the many shelves. Instantly she picks up a book that catches her eye. She sits down on a couch and starts to read it knowing that it/s the only time she'll get to read a book in silence. The book store is the best way she can get away from the crappy world we live in. As she reads her book a boy catches her eye. The boy is 16 with light brown hair that swept back and the sweetest brown eyes ever. The boy looks through the mystery genre shelf. He glances at Gabriella once, then twice, then the third time a smiles. His smile is the most adorable thing in the world. Gabriella puts her book back onto the romance shelf and starts to walk to the exit of the store. The boy blocks her way.

"Hmm Romance? not really my genre." He says smirking holding a book in his hand.

Gabriella giggles a bit. "Hmm Mystery? not really my genre." She says.

"How could you not like Mystery books? I mean they take you into the story and it's almost as if you're part of the story. I feel like Sherlock Holmes when I read Mystery books." He says smiling and so passionate about his love for the Mystery books.

"I was kidding." She giggles. "I love all books." She says smiling.

"Oh." He says giggling.

"I come here everyday why haven't I ever seen you?" She says.

"I'm from New York and my parents and I just moved here."

"Why would you leave such an amazing city to live in San Francisco. I mean I would kill to live in New York." She says shocked.

"Too loud, mean people, the city moves too fast for my family and I to catch up. Here in SF everything is calmer yet we are still living in a city." He says smiling.

"Wow. I hate it here I still don't know how you like it here."

"I like to think about the positive and not the negative I guess." He says.

"So you're saying I'm being negative?" Gabriella says smiling and slightly teasing him flirtatiously.

He stutters. "Uh no no no I mean no more no I think your um no."

"Now I've never heard someone say no that many times in one sentence." She says teasing him in a playful way.

He giggles again. The boy looks at her dress noticing she is dressed very well. "What's with the fancy outfit?"

"I was having dinner with my moms friends and their son." She says a little irritated having to think about it.

"Why do you sound mad?" He asks. "I mean you look nice..." He says smiling.

Gabriella blushes. "Uh just their son kept on giving me looks..."

"Hmm I see." He smirks.

"Yea.." She says smiling awkwardly.

"Oh I'm Oliver btw." He says taking out his hand. She shakes his hand smiling.

"Gabriella."

"Well Gabriella you better stay away from that creep so...why not just read some books here?" He says smiling.

"That's what I was trying to do." She says laughing.

"Oh right." He says giggling at himself.

"Well I'm just going to continue reading this book then." Gabriella says as she sits on the couch and opens back to the page that she left of at. Oliver sits next to her smiling. He opens his book and continues to read. They both share glances at each other while giggling till the end of the hour.
