The teacher stands in front of the class, "Everyone, please welcome your new classmates, Hinamori Amu-san and Hinamori Aki-san." She looks at us confused, "Hinamori-san?" She looks at Amu.

"Well, nice to meet'cha." Amu says looking to the side. The teacher seems shocked while the class seems impressed.

I take a breath, "N-nice to meet you.." I mumble, I hope they heard me.

"Ahhh..." The class stares at us before we're shown to our seats.

I wish we weren't so nervous, my sister and I. It wouldn't have caused us so much trouble because now everyone expects us to act this way, our classmates think we act this way because we're cool... and Mum gives us precise clothing types. She dresses Ami up in cutesy clothes, she dresses Amu in Goth-punk clothes and she dresses me in more elegant type clothes. But I don't want that, neither does Amu. I want to dress more goth-punk, sometimes even cutesy too but now I just feel like I wouldn't suit it because everyone else has decided this is how I dress and who I am...

As Amu and I walk towards school, walking a path where no one can see us on our way to school, we hear some older boys harassing one of our underclassmen. "Hey kid, you got your allowance yesterday, right?" Boy A says.

"There's a game we want..." Amu and I look at eachother and pale. We can't just stand here though...

"Uh... um...!" The underclassmen mumbles.

Amu and I step out, wanting to get to school. "Hey. You're in the way." Amu flips her bag onto her shoulder.
"And you're in the way of anyone else looking to use this path." I stare at them plainly, "What a nuisance."
One boy looks at us, not impressed. "Who are the broads?"
The other boy pales and jumps, "Are they who I think they are?" The two older boys become paler and swallow.
The underclassman jumps out from the wall and looks at us amazed. "You're Seiyo Elementary's ultimate 'Cool and Spicy' Hinamori Amu-san! And 'Sour and Smart' Hinamori Aki-san!"

"Hinamori Amu?!" "Hinamori Aki?!"
"Hinamori Amu singlehandedly defeated Sakura Elementary's entire soccer team!"

"Hinamori Aki apparently got accepted by all the elementary schools in Kanto for free, and no principal dares to defy her!" The two boys quickly apologise and run away.

Amu sighs, "Who starts these rumours, anyway?"
Before I can respond the boy jumps out at us, "Thank you so much! Could I please have your autograph?"
Amu turns to him, "Are you stupid? You were in my way, too." She begins walking away, "Be more careful."
I nod, "Don't walk alone to school, unless you want to be confronted again." I warn him and follow Amu.
"They're so cool!" I hear him scream from behind us.

As we sit in class, our classmates begin gossiping about what happened this morning. "Amu," I whisper, tugging on her sleep and making her turn around to face me. Some of the class squeel and call me cute. "I um... wanted to show you my drawing.." I showed her my sketch of the light shining on Amu, "The light makes everything beautiful... And you know, it gives me hope that one day we can finally be who we are, together." I smile softly.
She takes the sketch, staring down at it and blinks. "T-thank you, Aki-onee. I wish... I wish that I could draw as well as you can.." She turns back around, and stares out the window.

As we sit at the dinner table, the show Mum was watching still on calls out, "There's a guardian spirit behind you!" It makes us all jump and look at the TV. "That's right. No matter who they are, every human has a guardian spirit protecting them!"
"That's dumb, and so not true." Amu says.
Mum whips out her magazine, "But the fortune-teller Saeki Nobuko is the real deal. Even in my magazine, she's really popular with married women!"
Dad quickly slides into the conversation, literally, showing us a picture he took of Ami. "Never mind that, look at this! It's my new masterpiece!"
"Oh my! You've done it again!" Mum exclaims. Our parents are kinda weird...
Ami jumps on Amu. "I'm scared, Sis! I don't like ghosts!"
Amu looks to the TV and back to Ami, "That's a person, Ami."
"Ghost!" Ami cries.
"No, they are not ghosts." The TV women speaks, I look wide-eyed at the TV, so freaky... "Guardian Spirits fight for you. They are always watching the real you from the shadows." The real.. me?
"As if, that's stupid." Amu mumbles.
"Anyone who calls them stupid will die." Okay.. that was dark. I smile softly at Amu's shocked face. It sounds like she's getting to Amu.. "That's because I am." I look at the TV shocked again, freaky... Amu jumps up.
"What's wrong, Amu-chan?" Mum asks.
Amu looks at me, looking like she wants to talk to me. "It is stupid. Guardian spirits are something weak people cling to in desperate times. I'll never need them." She swishes her hair. A bit much... "Thanks for the food."
"Please excuse me," I stand putting down my cutlery and following Amu.

As we enter Amu's room, which is across from mine, Amu waddles to her bed and swings to sit down on the edge. She's so cute when she's herself. She sweats and groans a little bit. "That was awful." She looks at me. "What just happened?" She frets and grabs her head. "I'm so bad with occult stuff! This is bad! This is bad!"
"I kinda like occult stuff, not too dark but I like the light stuff, like that Guardian Spirit thing. It was intruiging(sp?)." I tap my chin and smile.
Amu flips out on her bed, ignoring what I said...
"I can't even take a bath and wash my hair!" She says throwing her pillow in the air which hit her head.
I sit on the chair at her desk. "It was a little freaky..."
I hear her sigh and pull the pillow off her face. "My outer character exhausted me today." She rolls onto her side and cuddles the pillow.
I blink at her, it's not like her to open up like this, it must be stressing her out more... I wish we didn't do this to ourselves, we even use our outer characters at home now. My silent disposition kicked in at school and at home today. I only speak when needed, because I'm so afraid what people will say to me... Amu sits and looks at me with sad eyes.
"It... It bothers me too. I wish I could... be myself, without being afraid of what others will say. What Mum and Dad will say.. I wish I could wear what I liked, and be happy, I wish I could show my emotions to people. I wish I could talk to people... I wonder if people who hide their true selves, actually do have guardian characters? And if they really do watch us from the shadows?" Amu looks behind her, a little bit intimidated, like something is gonna jump out at her. I would just to make her smile and laugh but, this is a serious conversation.
"Yeah right." Amu looks down in disbelief and walks out to her balcony. I stand outside with her.

"You know, Amu... I wish we could be like the stars. Be our own colour, whether pink, blue or green, or some other colour... but be near one another too... We could... We could wish on a star if you like? It always helps me sometimes?" She smiles at me, holds my hand and nods.
"Yeah, that sounds good."

Guardian Spirit, if you actually exist and I'm not just talking to no one, then I hope you can help me. I want to be who I want to be, I want to be happy and make my loved ones laugh, I want to play more music like I used to and I just want to know who I'm meant to be...
