Vega was very interested in the whole 'neutrality' concept. He could hardly believe that it had been about twenty years since the last one came about, and it was now his turn to take on the role. He remembered his goals from when he first came realized he came about the Bellereon Swift, in space, and he knew that he had to fulfill them and make them useful. It surged anticipation and anxiousness through his body, his heart pounding at the little dreams of success that often crossed his mind.

He could hardly sleep on the night of the choosing. He was so excited and happy, and he could barely think his way back to his pod. He felt like running a marathon, and he knew that was a start for sure. If he was this enthusiastic, he would be a hero in no time. A commander, even. He knew that this was a beginning, and a new one at that.

The boy felt a cold shiver go up his spine. He recalled that there wasn't a light emerging from the small window in his pod. That meant he was back up in space, floating around the galaxy in the Bellereon.

All of his thoughts were flocking to him.

Then, it hit him.

What about Aero?

That was right. Aero was going to be a commander. That's what the whole Class of 7777 thing was... switching the robot over to a higher rank. He would be leading a starship, choosing one with the other two Voyager allies. That meant that Aero had to leave the Bellereon Swift, Alistair, and Vega. He had to leave everyone but Cosmique and Pixel.

Vega felt his heart drop to the floor as he stood up and got out of bed. He looked around his pod quickly, only to dart towards the door and down the hall. He was still in his trainee uniform, so he didn't have to worry about changing... yet his hair was in a frenzy.

I have to find him.

Where could he be?

Vega huffed as he ran down the hall. He needed to catch up to Aero, to find him... to tell him goodbye. It made his heart ache with sadness. His best friend was going to leave him, only to be what he had always wanted to become.

"He's probably in Alistair's huge office," Vega said to himself, like he was giving himself advice or hinting to the answer.

And that's where he was.

"Aero!" Vega shouted as he busted through the office doors, his once pale face red with exhaustion. His eyes were shot right open, yet his limbs were both flimsy and tense at the same time.

"Hey, Vega. I'm glad you came."

There was a mixture between sorrow and excitement in Aero's mechanical voice. His screen was dim, yet it was bright. He had to be having mixed emotions about leaving. He knew that he had to depart, and he wanted to see Vega again very soon.

Vega rushed over and wrapped his cold arms around the robot, only to get the favor returned. They both held each other tight for a brief moment, both of their hearts slowing down to catch up with their sadness.

"Let's... Let's have a final walk, shall we?" Aero uttered. "We'll be parking towards a space station soon."

"Yes... That sounds perfect," Vega replied. He had tears swelling in his eyes, as well as a lump in his throat. "Absolutely perfect."

The boy and the bot walked side by side, their arms touching. The Bellereon Swift wouldn't have the same feel to it after Aero would leave. It would be quiet, lonely, and possibly even depressing. Vega knew he wouldn't be aboard it for much longer on that meaningful day, but every second would make him feel even more empty.

They both made each footstep feel worthwhile. The clacking from their space boots aligned together, as if they were in sync. They cared that much about one another, even to notice the smaller things, to cherish them bit by bit.
