Chapter 4

Dan shook Phil's hand awkwardly. Dan wasn't really used to having friends, so he was was skeptical. "Why are you doing this now?" Dan asks. "Well I know you were new here so you probably didn't have a friends" Phil says cheerily.

Dan and Phil sat in awkward silence until Dan was stuffed full. Dan got up and went back to the dorms lounge. Phil and Faythe walk in, hand in hand. Dan stared at Phil as he smiled at something Faythe said. Dan shook his head vigorously. You don't like him his mind jeered to him, besides he'd never like you.

Dan sat alone, the cool nine o'clock air hitting him. Another boy Dan had yet to meet walked out, sketchbook in hand pencil in the other. "Oh I didn't know you were out here" he says turning around. "No it's okay" Dan calls back. He turns around and looks concerned. "Why are you sitting alone out here" he says to Dan. "I just couldn't sleep" Dan says. "Well me neither I was going to draw but I guess I'll talk to you," He says happily "I'm Jordan!"

Dan and Jordan talked until one o'clock until they were both yawning. Dan learned Jordan was transgender and his birth name was Hannah. He also learned his birth parents put him up for adoption because he was transgender. About two years after he was put up he was 13 and his parents now sent him here because this is where his parents meant. Dan told Jordan his backstory then they yawned said goodnight and went to sleep.

Dan woke up for breakfast the next morning talking to Jordan as he walked out of the bedroom. "Hey Jordan," the voice Dan recognize to be Phil's called after him. "Oh hey Dan" Phil said to Dan after he caught up to them. "Where's Faythe" Dan asked because the only time he had seen him was with her. "She said she wanted to keep sleeping," Phil said with a shrug "so I let her." Dan nodded not really caring, just trying to make conversation.

They get to the mess hall, but not before being introduced to a few more of Jordan and Phil's (now Dan's) friends from the bisexual dorm. There was Aiden, Bionca, Mikayla, Noah and Caitlyn who is also transgender.

Caitlyn had hair that went down to the chin of her round head. Aiden had short, dirty blonde hair they were both fond of the color red. Bionca had long black hair with fading blue dye, she was tall and usually had a grey sweatshirt. Noah was round, not fat, just round and usually wore black with his brown hair brushed to the side. Mikayla had blonde hair down to her shoulder blades, and had black on most the time. They all had brown eyes except Bionca who had blue.

They get to the mess hall and find an open bench at one of the maroon and silver tables. They begin eating their eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, and much more.

They get done and start heading back to the room. "Wait, let's go explore the grounds since Dans never seen them" Jordan suggest. They all nod in agreement hot haven't much else to do.

They explore the property, it's big with trees here and there providing shade, and a lake Dan had never noticed.

Two week time skip

"Ugh we have to go to classes in a few days" Noah complains, slouching lower on the maroon chair. "Well then let's make the best of it!" Dan says smiling. "How?" Mikayla, Bionca, and Caitlyn say in unison. "Do you all have swimsuits?" Phil says, an evil grin coming across his face. "Phil! you know that's against the rules" Bionca says. "Yeah, I know" he says who a shrug "that's why I want to do it." "I will" Dan says. They all look at him, not expecting Dan to break the rules after only three weeks of being there. "First I need to go see Mr. Damon"

Dan walks up to Mr. Damon door and knocks twice. "Come in" Mr. Damon says from the inside of the door. Dan opens it and walks into his spacious office. "You said to come see you about a schedule when classes role around." "Ah yes I have it right here" he says reaching into his desk to grab the schedule. "Here you are" he says handing Dan the paper. "You'll have these same classes every year you attend so you won't have to worry about getting another schedule." "Thanks!" Dan said rushing out of the room.

Dan stands in his black swim trunks. Phil in his blue and green ones. Phil turns to Dan "ready" he asks and Dan nods. They run, getting closer and closer sigh every step. They get to the edge of the lake. Phil does a front flip Dan does a cannonball. "IT'S FREEZING PHIL" Dan screams shivering. "As come on its not that bad" Phil says trying not shiver. "Hey! What are you boys doing!" A ginger hair teacher called at them from another story up. The teacher climbed down from out the window. "You're new so I'm going to let you off with a warning, but you however," he says turning to Phil come with me. Dan got out of the water and walked to his friends. "Hopefully he just gets a detention" Faythe says on the verge of crying. "Hopefully my baby doesn't get anything more than a detention!" Dan rolls his eyes at this not really knowing why.

They all go back to the bedroom after they wait for Dan outside of the dorm bathroom to get changed. They sat on their beds in silence, waiting for Phil. After about five minutes he walks in, Dan and Faythe smile when he does. He looks sad, "what's wrong" Faythe asks him. "Oh nothing, besides the fact that was," he stopped " awesome!!" "Yeah it was pretty cool" Jordan said, smile on his face. "Did they give you a detention?" Noah asks. "Yeah it's tomorrow at four I don't really care though because of how cool that was" he says smiling and glancing at Dan. "Yeah it was" Dan reply's with a smile.

It was seven o'clock they were about to go to sleep when they heard a scream. They all ran to the lounge and looked out the window where people were crowded around. They all pushed their way to the front to see a girl on the roof, arms outspread. "She's gonna jump!" A voice said. Dan had seen him at the mess hall before, usually alone. Dan turned to Noah "how do you get to the roof!" Noah looked at Dan as if he was insane. Noah brushed his long brown hair out of his eyes as if he was contemplating showing him. "Okay, follow me" Noah led Dan out of the room to the seventh floor. "It's through that hatch up there." Dan looked past the latter at the hatch and opened the hatch. "Don't!" He calls when the girl is I'm his view her eyes are closed her arms are still stretched. " Why not!" She calls back. "Because you don't deserve for your life to end like this, you deserve more!" Dan yells at it starts to rain "I realized you've sat alone" Dan says pausing. ", but you can be friends with me and my friends if you don't do this." She tightens the close of her eyes stands on her toes, about to jump. Then she opens her eyes, stands flat-footed and turns around and hugs Dan. "Thank you, so so much" she says smiling as tears steak down her cheeks. Dan hugs back leading her to the hatch. They climb down the latter, "I'm Breanna by the way"
