'cat got your tongue?'
"Owch! ow! Ugg!" Was all I managed to get out as I was tumbling down the wooded hill side. Needles and pines stinging me as I rolled over top of them uncontrollably. Hoping I wouldn't slam into a tree as I finally made it to the bottom, face planting into a mud puddle. 'Great' I thought as I did NOT want to clean myself. This was very new to me and licking myself doesn't seem like it would make me any cleaner.
I looked down and saw four dirty, wet paws. I shook them roughly hopeful some of the dirty water would flick off. I looked again, now seeing a
resemblance of white. I cranked my head back examining the rest of my body. I had black, matted down fur covered in sap and needles. I was disgusted with myself and needed to find a river or pond to wash off in.
I was padding along trying to get used to walking on all-fours. It hurts walking on small pebbles and other sharp things in the dirt. I heard the sound of water ahead. I ran stumbling a bit trying to find balance in my footing.
'Yes!' The river was rushing right in front of me. I couldn't wait! I jumped in! 'Oh no! I can't swim!' The current was to strong. It pulled me with it. I saw the dirt sweeping around me then whisking away as fast as it came. 'At least I was clean.' Faster and faster the world was rushing past in a flash and I couldn't do a thing about it. I heard loud splashing close. 'Waterfall! I'm going to die. I'm going to drown. This life didn't even give me a chance!'
I thought about my past lives and all my past families and how some of them were so kind to me. I tried not thinking about the 'not-so-kind' ones. I thought about my past deaths. I don't remember any pleasant ones. Even when you die of old age it's like your suffocating for what feels like forever then your just gone.
A loud howl broke me from my thoughts. I started panicking again. The waterfall was about 30 seconds away. I was looking around trying to find something to grab when something grabbed me! I squealed as I felt the jaws of an animal sinking into my flesh. Not sure if I should be thankful I was saved from drowning or scared I was going to be eaten.
I felt as though I was flying for a few seconds till I hit the ground, hard. I tasted blood and spat it out while trying to stand at the same time but I was knocked over in the process. I grunted as pain shot through my entire body. I could barely open my eyes but got a look at what was around me.
There were three wolves with silky grey fur. They were growling and showing off their yellow fangs. They were crouching and walking slowly in a circle around me not blinking or taking an eye off me. One of them barked to another and I felt another sharp pain arising from my thigh. One of them had chomped down, now dragging me across the forest floor. There was no point in struggling to get free, those jaws were locked on tight.
When we finally made it to where they threw to the ground again, I saw about a dozen more of their kind. All staring with wide eyes, licking their lips with droop hanging down their mouths. One barked and another growled. They were coming in closer.
If they were gonna kill me they didn't really need to try so hard.
One of them, the leader of the pack I think, barked loud and all of a sudden they all lunged forward with crazed looks in their eyes that scared me more then the whole.... dying thing.
I howled and squealed as they tore me to shreds for their dinner. I was just glad that was over.
