"Maka," Tsubaki called in her soft voice. "I noticed you and Soul have been a little tense with each other lately." The tall girl said, her narrow eyes filled with concern for her friend.

"Oh... You noticed that?" Tsubaki nodded. "Well... it kinda started when..."

"Maka!" Soul groaned from his room. The silver haired scythe sighed and got out of bed, trudging towards the kitchen, where his meister most likely was. "Maka, what's for... dinner?" Soul's figure tensed as he saw his beloved Maka sitting against the kitchen counter, head in her hands. "Did ya hurt yourself?" He asked, bending down to Maka's height.

"No," Maka croaked. Her voice sounded strained, like she was crying. Soul noted that. The brunette lifted her head, and her eyes met his. They stared at each other for a few seconds, until Soul replaced his serious face with a funny one. Maka giggled like a schools girl and stood up, wiping any remaining tears from her face.

"Seriously, though. Are you alright Maka?" Soul asked, stuffing his hands into his pockets. Maka nodded and kissed Soul on the cheek. Soul's face erupted into flames, which was quite visible on his pale skin. "Go take a nap. I'll have dinner ready soon." Said a now very smiley Maka. Soul slowly nodded, and trudged back to his room.

"I don't understand." Whispered a very confused Tsubaki to herself. Why was Maka crying? But said meister wasn't thinking of the same question.

"I know, right? I've done it before... He's never freaked out about it until now!" Maka exclaimed.

"No," Tsubaki corrected. "Why were you crying. We can get back to Soul later." The black haired weapon stared into Maka's shifting eyes, before she got her to spill.

"Okay, Tsubaki! Jeez, you're kinda scaring me!" Maka squeaked, giving up on keeping it a secret. "I was crying because... I like Soul. And I was finally fed up with him constantly flirting with other girls." Maka confessed. She blushed heavily and looked down. Tsubaki had her hands together, a bright smile on her face, and squealed.

"I knew it!" Tsubaki shrieked (quietly). Maka blushed even worse than before, shifting uncomfortably where she stood.

"Please, please don't tell him!" Maka begged. She had faith that her best friend wouldn't tell Soul a word, but she just had a reflex to beg the taller girl not to tell anyone. Maka tensed when she heard obnoxious laughing. She looked up and saw Soul and BlackStar walking towards them.

"I'll help you out." Tsubaki whispered. Maka's eyes widened, but before she could protest, Soul and BlackStar were already in front of the two girls.

"Helloo Maka!" BlackStar cooed. He turned. "Tsubaki! I have a mission for us to do! Let's go now and get out of Stein's class!" Tsubaki tried to protest as her meister dragged her away, but she gave up, and shot Maka an apologizing look.

Out of the two remaining people, Maka looked a lot more uncomfortable. "Maka," Soul started. He looked away. "I'm sorry about being so weird after you... Kissed me." Soul apologized, rubbing his arm. Maka looked up.

"I just don't understand why this time is different. I've done it before. So why get all flustered now?" She asked. The teenager in front of her visibly stiffened, and let his shoulders slump with a sigh.

"I know. Trust me, I noticed too." Maka looked into Soul's eyes, and stepped closer. "I just... Lately I couldn't help but notice how... How." Soul let out yet another sigh. Maka sighed to and pulled Soul down to her height.

"Soul Evans." Crap. Maka was mad now. "I don't care if you're about to call me the ugliest person you have ever met, or if you are going to comment on my flat chest. Just tell me what's wrong. I'll fix it! Promise." Maka then let go of Soul's shirt, and the red eyed scythe took a small step back.

"I couldn't help but notice how... Cute you are lately." Soul sputtered. He sighed (again) and ran his hand through his hair. Looking Maka in the eyes, he continued. "You have no idea how many times I have wanted to pin you up against a wall and kiss you until you can't breathe! I just... I can't help it. I don't care about anything other than you right now." Maka wiped a stray tear from her face, and brought Soul in for the tightest hug. "Cool." Soul whispered.

The bell had rang long ago, and neither of them seemed to care. Maka and Soul spent a minute or two locked in each other's embrace, occasionally giggling, or squeezing a little. Soul was the first to pull away.

"Maka Albarn, I like you. A lot." Soul whispered.

"Soul Eater Evans," Maka chuckled. "We should get to class. We're at least five minutes late by now, easily." Soul chuckled and wrapped one arm around Maka's shoulder as they slowly walked down the hallway together, whispering sweet nothings. Let's just say that they never made it to Stein's class...

They were too busy hiding from Sid.
